I texted back and I told him to just throw a blanket over this bill. They replied about it a minute later and asked, now what should they do? I said, nothing. Your bases are covered.

SPEAKER_07course. And uh just a stupid little random note, but so we read me and my hubby recently had some chicken patties for dinner. They were crispy chicken, of course. Of course. And we tried them in two different ways. One was in a burger and the other was just alone on its own. And um, so I was thinking if you add cheese to the latter, it would be provolone. I just did that. I just did that. Fairly's having trouble. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02Um also there's blink noises for my eyes right now.
SPEAKER_07I can hear it. I can definitely hear it. Um, and I so you know, with Braille and everything, um, the inventor of Braille was named, his name was Louis Braille. And he walked into a bar, and then he walked into a table and then into a chair.
SPEAKER_08No, no, because they weren't labeled properly, clearly. Uh clearly. They didn't have the appropriate bumps.
SPEAKER_10Yes. Yeah, the the the worst sign-in Braille is the one that says hot, do not touch. Yes.
SPEAKER_07I would have to agree with that.
SPEAKER_02You you find out a little bit too late what that's kind of like the braille on the drive-up windows. I mean, yeah, why why are there braille on the drive up windows? I don't understand.
SPEAKER_12For the blind drivers. I guess. You've seen them all over the place.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they're mostly they're mostly on ATM machine drive-throughs, yeah. Which is funny. Yes, they are.

SPEAKER_02Well, let's uh let's jump in with Rain and Ziggy because they attended Postrel in San Diego, Chile uh just recently, and are just back uh yesterday, I believe. So tell us all about it.
SPEAKER_12So we just got home last night uh from Postrel, like you said, and the PCD is still hitting very hard, to be honest. Very hard. It was it was a fantastic con. We met so many nice spurs, including our friend Chirch, who's on staff. And even though he was busy, always found time to stop and give us a hug and help us find panels or uh sort out. We had a little mess with uh one of the panels that we went to because I didn't get chosen, and Ziggy did. It was a limited panel. And so Ziggy said, Well, my husband and I registered together, but uh only I got in. So, you know, I'm I'm not gonna attend, so you know, some give it to somebody else. And one of the other furs that was that got in says, No, you take it, you guys are a couple, take it and and I'll go somewhere else. And uh that was so nice of him. And so Cheers sorted it out for us and made sure that the person manning that door knew that that uh I had been replacement for that other fur.
SPEAKER_07So yeah, that's all in true furry um um demeanors. That's great.
SPEAKER_12So nice, yes. Yeah, so nice.
SPEAKER_10Something funny the way to enter the the those panels where you have to register, your ID was your telegram account. You have to show your telegram that's had your name, so that's your i legal ID in the con.
SPEAKER_12That lets you into the into those panels that were limited.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, because you had to register using your telegram user.
SPEAKER_12Yes. Uh so uh yeah, the Le Marinian Hotel where the where the con was held uh is really posh. It's a it's a Marriott hotel, but it's one of the more posh ones in uh Santiago. Uh had a really nice breakfast buffet, but you needed to get there at at least before the last hour because uh it that seemed when everybody shows up. Uh I mean furls all furs all over the world uh hate getting up early. So yes, because they don't go there. Yes. Yeah, we made we made the mistake of going late one morning and there were no tables left. And when Ziggy was waiting for one that had just become empty, a Karen, yes, they are everywhere, uh swooped in front of him and plopped her purse down on the little table that we'd been, you know, that Ziggy had been standing right by. She just kind of bumped him aside, pushed, popped her table, her purse on the table, and yeah, that was she claimed the table, and like she was just like ignoring everybody around, including Ziggy, like with a passion. She kept turning her back to him and everything.
SPEAKER_02I would have picked up the purse and put it on the floor and said, I'm sorry, but this is the table I've been waiting for. Yeah. We didn't want to get it.
SPEAKER_10It's my table now. I've been waiting for hours.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Yeah, no, yeah, just like the rest of us were. But uh luckily, a really nice family from Brazil saw what was going on and they invited us to sit with them. They were at one of the round tables. There were only three of them, and there were two more chairs or three more chairs uh at the big round table that they were at. Thankfully, Ziggy speaks pretty good Portuguese, and the father spoke a tiny bit of English, so we were able to communicate pretty well. Uh, they asked what this convention was about and were surprisingly good natured about it. Uh their four or five-year-old daughter seemed really intrigued by the people in animal costumes and was having a great time. So she was all smiles and was happy to sit and talk to some of the animal people. Oh, I'm sure, yeah. And uh yeah, so it was it was fantastic. Uh they they you know shook our hands and and uh and you know, the wife gave us the traditional Latin American uh you know, goodbye and hello, which is a kiss on the cheek. And uh yeah, they were very nice. The little girl waved bye-bye real happy at us. It was it was super sweet.
SPEAKER_10Also, something about the food is the room service was surprisingly affordable.
SPEAKER_12We ordered room service three times or three or more times, I can't remember, three or four times. Uh and it was yeah, it was no more expensive than going down to a restaurant. Uh so wow. Yeah, it was it was very, very affordable, which was another, you know, uh plus in in the check boxes for for that uh for that uh hotel. It's just their their prices are reasonable. The you know the room service was fast, uh typically taking less than 15 minutes to get your stuff to you. Whoa. Yeah, it's really good. Just really, really good. And that was during the busiest time of the con. We just we we were so busy we didn't have time to go eat. And so we when we got back to the room, we ordered room service and they were up in 15, 20 minutes. So the raves were pretty good with uh typical style of music for a furry rave. It was just EDM stuff. Uh Friday was the was a normal rave, uh, and then Saturday was the after dark rave where you were allowed to fetish attire as long as you changed in the con area. Featured by DJ Saliva. Yes. Saliva. DJ Saliva, yes. Saliva. Yeah, the wet. They call it the Saliva Club.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, apparently it's uh online uh venue that you can attend uh and play remotely. It's quite popular here some somehow.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, but uh cool. Uh so yeah, there were large restrooms in the con area, of course, uh, and of course the headless lounge for people to change in. So there was there was no issue with them being able to get uh to the you know to the area uh through the hotel because uh the adult fish gear wasn't allowed in public areas of the hotel. So you had to come down and change down there in the con area. Uh for Ziggy and myself, the highlights of the con were definitely the panels, which uh ranged from normal uh fur con panels like video games, VR, sticker exchanges, uh, and the like to beer tasting. Uh Ziggy and I attended a chocolate tasting panel. That's the one that uh I didn't get into, but he did. But the fur gave us the their spot in line.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, shout out to Sato for Yeah, Sato was very nice.
SPEAKER_12We gave him a big hug after afterwards when we found him. And yeah, that was it was uh it was really good. Uh learned so many things about chocolate, how chocolate's made, the the five components of chocolate, all it was really good. Um we also attended a panel on preserving legacy video games. Yeah, that was pretty pretty fun. They you know the guy was kind of basically telling us, but not but not uh suggesting you you do this because you shouldn't do, but this is if how you want to if you bought the game and want to preserve it, you can do this. So it was that was a really interesting panel, and even though uh it was all in Spanish, I managed to use my translator on my phone for about two-thirds of it before my phone started getting really hot, and the the voice started uh the voice started getting really, really frizzy in my ears because the the phone was having issues with with managing the heat from it. So I shut it off and just continued to listen and try and catch what words I knew here and there. Uh, but it was really good. It was it was interesting. Um, and he brought a lot of you know examples and stuff like that, and and it was a really fun panel. The the best was uh a wine tasting that unbeknownst to us included a very nice dinner of beef served on corn puree with veggies. Wow. Uh yeah, uh it was a meal you would have paid a lot for in a fine dining restaurant. Um it was the bake the beef was super tender, the corn was sweet, and you know the corn's puree was sweet and and uh very starchy. Uh it was kind of it was it was really good. Loved the meal. I mean, I've cleaned my plate. Everybody cleaned their plate.
SPEAKER_02There was not a plate in there with plus it was an unexpected free meal, is always good.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, and then three glasses of wine with refills whenever we wanted them.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_12Okay, wow. So we had a there was a cabernier savignon, uh-huh, uh a carmener. Carmener, and a Malbeck. Malbec. Oh, okay. And very hardy wines. Yes, the Cabernet went best, in my opinion, and Ziggy's opinion, with the meal. Yes. And the the Malbec was the second one. The second one that went best with the meal. And the the the third one, uh, it was really good on its own, but I did not like it with the meal. It just didn't it didn't vibe with the with the flavors in the meal.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, one of the objectives of the of the panel was to learn how to pair the meal with wine and to discover how the the flavor complement, how they balance. And when you pick the wrong wine, for example the carmener with the with the meat, the flavor or the profile of the wine, instead of being nice and fruity, became acidic. Yeah. But when you take the cavernet sauven for a more fatty, fatty, fatty, fatty meal, uh, the wine that usually is high in tannin and with a very rich body felt mellow and flowed along with the with the with the meat, with the with the with uh with the dinner. It was a very interesting experience. Yeah, yeah. And with a lovely dinner.
SPEAKER_08Yes, that's impressive that that they uh did this at the con. So that's awesome.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, it's an 18 plus con.
SPEAKER_12So that that's oh that makes it much easier.
SPEAKER_10Uh the you had to pror register, but uh you didn't have to pay like an extra to attend the yeah, the no extra cost.
SPEAKER_12So Sid and Haru from I Think I Like You were the guests of honor and were really fun to meet, and they really enjoyed the con. Uh we you saw them all throughout the con. It wasn't like uh most big cons where the the guests of honor are there and then they're you don't see them again until maybe closing ceremonies. They were all over the con all the time, attending panels, having fun, and and it was yeah, it was pretty cool. I'm glad you got Koacha Yuyo as well was uh was one of the one of the other uh guests of honor, and they were they were constantly around the con. Like I I saw them probably m almost as much as I saw Ziggy.
SPEAKER_08Oh yeah, well I'm glad that you got to meet I'm glad you got to meet Sid and Haru. They're very good friends of mine, so um I'm glad you got to meet them.
SPEAKER_12The the uh uh we took a page out of uh last episode's uh playbook, and we made a whole bunch of pleas, which in Spanish is pulga, and we we we attached pulgas, 40 pulgas to uh attendees at the con, and they all seemed to enjoy it. Yeah, and we weren't the only ones, somebody else brought pulgas too.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it was it was amazing to to see the people uh taking off their head for just to get some air and then find a pulga in their in their first and like aw damn.
SPEAKER_04Someone got me. Yes.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, we're definitely planning on going back again next year. It's uh it's a great little convention. Uh final on the attendance this year was slightly higher than last last year, but not by much. Um so hold on. It was 521 this year, which is just slightly over what they had last year. They had 500, what?
SPEAKER_10502 last year.
SPEAKER_12502 last year. So a little increase. But there's room to grow in this hotel. Yeah, it's it's kind of get out the float vibes. Yeah. Um but it's being all in one place, it was it was a lot more comfortable and a lot more convenient instead of having the hotels and the and the convention area separate.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. So I had two questions, but you already answered one.
SPEAKER_10Oh so the next question is uh for for the uh for the charity, they raised five million nine hundred and fifteen uh Chilean pesos, which is roughly six thousand dollars.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, and they that's enough for them to operate for the entire year. It's a charity that takes care of uh the wild uh deer.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, it's called the Taruca, it's a small deer that lives in the north of Chile in the desert, and uh they do it's not very research because it's hard to see, how hard to find. Yeah, and there's no many human interactions, so that's why they do all their research.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, so yeah, we just gave them an entire year's worth of operating budget. So yeah, it was pretty awesome. They were they had fun at the con the whole time. They were there the whole times too. They weren't you know just there for give us a check. They were there at the con, they had a table, they would get up from the table and each of them would switch out and be running around the con and checking stuff out, and and they had a good time at the con. Nice.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say TikTok said he had another question.
SPEAKER_11Oh, yeah, yeah. No, no, thanks for the stats. Uh that was my first part. Second part was uh for the benefit of our listeners, um, the wine and chocolate tasting. Yes. Uh were those South American varietals or from different parts of the uh the the the wine definitely was.
SPEAKER_12It was all Chilean wines. Okay. Uh but the chocolate was was worldwide. Uh in fact, the one of the chocolates that we had uh was a dark chocolate uh with uh seaweed in it for the saltiness.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_12And you would think it was combu, you know, Japanese kambu. You would think that doesn't sound like a good pairing, but it was a fantastic pairing.

SPEAKER_12Yeah. All right, nice. Uh, anyways, to back that up, uh, we managed to get three people on on uh recorder to uh talk about their experience, and one of them is one of the ops managers for the for the con. SPEAKER_12Yeah, yes. Uh yeah, well, I mean we get pretty good numbers. Uh we've been going seven years now, so that's cool. Yes, we'd uh we love talking to people at cons and especially con organizers because you guys are the reason that we get to join this wonderful forecast.
SPEAKER_09Amazing. Your name is my name is Kechiji or Kecho. Uh I'm a white lion and I've been in the fandom for around 25, 26 years. How's your postural been like so far from an organizational standpoint? It's been a very interesting uh process, I I would say. Well, yeah, new hotel. New hotel, yes. It's a new hotel. Yes. Last year we we we were in another hotel and we decided to change it because we wanted a better space space for the attendees. The space is marvelous. It's really great. I'm happy to hear that. And it's been an interesting journey, I would say. I I can only imagine. Yes, yes. It's it's uh been a lot of work, but it's been fun as well.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, our local Furcon, uh, with one of uh our podcast staff, actually the chair of uh Furlandia, they just changed hotels and it's been a massive like reorganization of everything and figuring out how things work, but uh you know it went off really well this year, so they they're very hot for it. I'm so happy to hear that.
SPEAKER_09Tell me a little bit more about the theme of this year's game. Well, this year's con is called Free Road, which is based a little on I mean, not a little a lot on Mad Max. Yes, okay. The idea is that our characters, uh which are uh Len, our main mascot, uh Hoche, which is uh the culpeo pox, and Lucas, which is our Puma. They're they went from the the the previous adventure that was Monster Invasion, and things didn't go as well as as planned, and they got turned into normal people and they got like transported into this world and they now need to like survive the apocalypse and reach the the scenes of this convention, and that's where everything gets done. It's been a lot of fun. Uh you know, this is my first fun outside of VS.
SPEAKER_12Well, that's cool. Uh I just uh last year and very quite a long time. Sweetheart? Yes, uh, yeah, and it's it's been fantastic. Uh I would say it's exceeded our expectations. I'm happy to hear it at so many levels. It's it's uh it's been a great we just got back from the wine tasting. That was so good. Oh, I'm so happy. Yeah, that I've never had any experience like that at a US Burcon. It's really amazing. Let's go there, we've had a we've had a on Friday.
SPEAKER_09We'll also had uh beer tasting. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_12But uh we did go to the chocolate tasting, and that was amazing, also. Uh I'm so happy. Very high-level stuff that you know you don't get at most US Vircons. I've I'm also like kind of really uh I like I'm liking the 18 plus thing. Yeah, a lot of US Vircons are all ages, and yeah sometimes that can run into issues and be a little ish some issues here and there.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so are most furcons in Chile uh 18 plus? Lately, yes. Before they used to be like all ages, but slowly they've been changing it to 18 plus, mostly because it's easier to organize something this level for only 18 people plus.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, and so I noticed that like everything's a little bit a little bit elevated, a little bit more uh I guess elegant. Uh yes, and also there's more more of a feel of we can still be playful, but yeah, it's also fun to indulge our backside.
SPEAKER_09Exactly. And also, and also which it's very important, there are less legal constraints because with minors that can be an issue.
SPEAKER_12Yes. So yeah, I noticed like the all the the the laws that are posted on the on the uh website about exactly this, this, this, and this, and the and yeah, it's Like the laws have changed a little bit and made things a little bit more easy if you go 18 plus for exactly exactly.
SPEAKER_09And also, like how you said, it allows us to be more playful. Right. I mean, if we if we if it was like a non-18 class con, yeah, the win teasing would have not been any been possible, or it had I mean it should have been like limited to a certain time. Yeah. And we didn't want we didn't really didn't want that.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.

SPEAKER_12No, it's Alexa, it's been a fantastic con and joined the heck out of it. Yeah, I mean, we came all the way from Portland Palace to be here. Yeah. It's a long trip, but it's well worth it. And we're hoping to be back next year.
SPEAKER_09That's amazing. I want to tell you about we also have different tiers, you know, all cons have that kind of thing. Yes. The highest tier, which is called Mega for us, we've had like a tour to one of the biggest wineries in Chile. Oh wow. So we took all our mega stuff there, and they actually managed to have a very nice dinner and a lot of wine testing while seeing it everything. And we try like every year to have the highest tier, different things. Right. And different experiences because we we want people to feel welcoming here. Yeah. Like to be like the home for everyone.
SPEAKER_12Well, I can tell you, like I felt super welcome. I I speak very little Spanish right now. Uh what I do speak is very, you know, like child level almost, right? Like I can talk to kids really easy because they don't use the big words anymore. Uh so uh yeah, it's it's been super welcoming. Everybody's been super friendly, uh super helpful. Yeah, it's the the attendees are all great, and the staff I'm so happy. I'm happy to hear that. Especially cheers. Yeah, yeah, he's he's super fun. And super friendly, yeah. He's been great.

SPEAKER_06Well, uh, first of all, uh my name is Alex, uh my first time is a guinea thing. Oh nice. Oh cute. He's very much inspired in a Guinea thing I had uh years ago, which was three colors, uh this one. Uh as far as uh I got well. Also has been very cool, very chill. Um I haven't been into a lot of activities with the activities I I have been into are very cool, very nice. It has been a very good idea.

SPEAKER_05What's your persona in your name? Uh hello, I'm Cora. Uh I'm uh very sticky with a tiger. So I'm I'm I'm an orange tiger. That's it. Oh, it's been awesome. Uh I'm I mainly come here to socialize because uh you don't find many furries in only two personately. Whoa, you're from personality, yeah. I'm from Santiago and I don't find too many. So that's kinda like yeah, but you're ready for socializing. But you you find yourself, so so that's fine. But yeah, I'm here for um like for uh finding friends and doing everything social. But also I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda expensive.
SPEAKER_12A little bit, but uh it's it's still cheaper compared to the less. Yeah. The big plants being so good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, a little bit. So you know the people that you talk around here, they they are good people. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05Yeah, so that's what I like the most. So I'm I'm I don't have fear to like go like hey, I'm Torah, who are you? Can I see your badge like right? Right. Oh, right, nice. So that's my experience here. So you recommend it to anybody. Yeah, if you're from from the from another country, there's a good filter, so you will find very good people. Yeah, and if you're from Chile, come here. Yeah, because um it's just starting this like the second last so these conventions are really new. Yeah. So yeah, they're they're good.

So I'm not sure you want to mix those two together, though. Um whiskey and ice cream. I mean, I guess you could. I mean, people they make the Snickers and whiskey was really good.
SPEAKER_12I had that at Noah's Cantina, and they they did a fat wash with the with the with the Snickers in the whiskey, and then they made an ice cream bar out of the fat wash leavings. Um you got a drink and dessert. And luckily, I didn't order that one first. I was almost gonna order that one first, and I ordered the other one, the the Don't Trip. And then when I got that one, it was right after we'd finished dinner, and so I had dessert and a really lovely whiskey drink.

And these days, I read these these cards that have doggies on them. These are cards that have doggies on them, and they're saying things to me in my mind. Oh my! Okay. And so I am going to I am going to uh translate and transmit what is in my mind. Okay. Lord help us all. We we are ready for you. I bring the I blame the provolone. So the first doggy in my mind is says I nurture my relationships with love and care. And on the back of my mind, it says to make deliberate effort to strengthen a relationship each week. Okay, I'll just move on to the next voice in my head. This puppy says. I don't know who gratitude is, but she's going out with peace for some reason. SPEAKER_02I mean, there are we're only two episodes in because there's only two episodes released so far. Uh I'm not a big fan now of the way this. I liked when the streaming services released episodes all at once, the entire season all at once. Now they're back to regular network TV type scheduling where it's once a week, and I'm like, uh, and then they're not staying on there long enough. I just I wanted to watch uh something else on HBO and I noticed it's not there anymore. It's like, god dang it.
SPEAKER_07They took it off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. What? Yeah, it's weird. They keep doing that. They take things off there, like the yeah, so I'd say, hmm, anyway.
SPEAKER_07Limited time only, you have to watch now, or else I guess. I guess don't get to.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but on lanterns, the actor that's playing Hal Jordan, which is the Green Lantern, uh, the premise is he's got a trainee that he's training to be a lantern core member. Yes. And he's just a dick. Yeah. I mean, Hal Jordan is just a dick to this guy, and I'm like, why are you being such a dick?
SPEAKER_12So in the comic books, Hal does end up becoming like a big evil supervillain. Uh he becomes like he steals like and kills like a whole bunch of lanterns, and he's got like two rings on each finger and his thumbs. The blingemaster. Yeah, uh he's he he loses part of his body and uses the rings to recreate his organs and body, and it's really gross, and he's really a bad guy at the end.
SPEAKER_07That's why, I bet that's why HBO keeps taking it off because he's destroying so many lanterns that you just can't see anything anymore. So, like, why watch like this black screen?
SPEAKER_02They can't show the film through to the TV screen. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_02I finished, yes, I finished Stargate Atlantis, finally. And um we're up to date on Silo, the new season of Silo, which is really good, I have to say. Very good. Uh up to date on Strange New Worlds and Rick and Morty, and just because Hell Tits! Hell tits, hell date!
SPEAKER_12I can't remember. Have you done uh MurderBot yet? Oh yes, yes, yeah. The second season is supposedly in the works and coming out very soon. Is that any good?
SPEAKER_02Yes, it's supposed to be coming out very soon. Uh the new season of Foundation is supposed to be coming out, the new season of Three Body Problem is supposed to come out. So there's a lot of good stuff on the horizons that we're looking forward to to watch. So yeah.
SPEAKER_07So MurderBot, I don't remember if I meant to look into that, and I don't remember if I even watched the first episode. Is that anything else?
SPEAKER_12Seriously good. Alex Skarsgard is amazing in it. He is so deadpan, but at the same time, just so funny.
SPEAKER_02It's I have to say, Skarsgard has been in a lot that really shows the the width and breadth of his acting abilities. Yeah, he is whole family's talented actor.

SPEAKER_08Okay. Well, Chitaro, uh, what about you? What have you been doing media-wise? Well, we've been continuing on watching Heroes, um, and it's getting a little bit real because they are rounding up people and trying to put them in jail just for being special. And and what's really interesting is to bring it into today, uh, you know, the person who plays one of the uh characters in this uh movie actually uh passed uh a couple of weeks ago, uh Hayden Pantier. Uh Panetier? I don't know how you pronounce it. Yeah, yeah, she was in this in the series, she was a cheerleader who could not be killed. She if she got shot, the bullets would come out of her and stuff like that. It was really amazing. Yeah. Or if she fell from a building, she'd call uh fall and crack her neck and then she'd go and it would go back and blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_07I remember the scene, actually.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it it's really uh getting interesting, and the fact is that there's more and more Star Trek people in there because Mark Michael Dorn plays the president.
SPEAKER_07Okay, yes. I don't know if I knew that. Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_08George Takay isn't it? Yeah, George Takay, um Nichelle Nichols, uh, of course, Zachary Kinto, and and of course, what's even more interesting is um there's a lot of interesting characters that that poke up that everybody knows from other things, or at least I do, and it's kind of fun. They but they do, yeah. Um but in addition to watching that, which we're in the the third season, there's four seasons that already Yeah yeah, we're in the third season. Yeah, very very much so. It's it's it's one of those series that once you start, you really don't want to stop watching it, to be honest, because it's really action-packed. Yeah, yeah. Um but we've also been watching this anime that's on Netflix, and you're gonna probably laugh and snicker when I tell you the name. But um it's called Chain Smoker Cat.
SPEAKER_07Okay. Mars bar, Marsbar, Marsbar instead of Snicker, Snicker, Snicker.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Hell tips, hell tips, hell tips. Yeah, hell tips, yeah. But I'm so so yes, it is what the name says. It is about a cat that only cares about smoking all the time, and they do chain smoke. They're like one cigarette after another, and and they're they're kind of rude, to be honest, because the the place where she lives, she constantly throws cigarettes at the person who cleans the yard and stuff like that, and throws things on him. But this is also a little bit of a risque thing because there's things uh occasionally that that you see that are kind of weird and and the the person who cleans the yard also kind of has a thing for her, and you see him like let's just say having fun with himself and other things in this thing. Not that they show it specifically, but they do imply a lot, so it's kind of an interesting thing.
SPEAKER_07Does he play chess with himself?
SPEAKER_08Is that what? Uh yes, and and he he he definitely um plays checkmate, yes. Okay, good. But but it is it is a strange show. He crowns something all of the above.
SPEAKER_07There's a lot of coronations going on here, I guess.
SPEAKER_08It's a very interesting thing because you know the this the series is like really this cat is like um, I don't know, on her last leg, so to speak, but she has a sister who's better than she is, so to speak, and and she kind of keeps watch on her and stuff. Like, like I said, it's it's a series that is exorbitantly strange. Um, it it just started back in July. We've been watching it, and uh, of course, I can't watch things with subtitles because I read too slow. So we have to wait for it to uh come out in English, uh dubbing. And so there's two extra episodes now that we haven't watched because they have to be dubbed. But it is very strange and very interesting, but we can't stop watching it.
SPEAKER_12It sounds like a little bit like keeping up appearances, but with cats.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, pretty much, pretty much. Um we also watched woman show. Yes, the bucket woman. We also watched this uh 2026 movie that just came out as well called The Last House. The last house. Yeah. It it's strange as well, because it it is the world is basically locked up in all of their houses. Okay, and they're not allowed to go outside. If they attempt to go outside, um the door doesn't open, they can't break break open doors, they can't break windows, they can't do anything. They're they're like literally stuck inside their house.
SPEAKER_07That sounds unhappy.
SPEAKER_08Well, you know, in the beginning they thought it was just kind of a thing, and it's like, okay, well, any day we're gonna get out. And and this family, the the the focus of this movie is a family of four: a mother, a father, a a daughter, and a and a son. And they all end up doing all sorts of fun stuff together. They start, they have two movies that they have the ability to watch. They can either watch Annie or they can watch Air Force One. This is Air Force One. Yeah. So so there there was a scene where they're where um the husband and wife were wanting to have a date night, so to speak, and said, Let's watch a movie. Which one would you like to watch? And the m and the wife says, I'm so tired of listening to the songs in Annie. Let's watch Air Force One. So, but it was a really good, uh, a good movie. I recommend it. Uh if uh and um the interesting part is they end up being sequestered for a very long period of time, and the stuff that they end up having to do it reminded me as I was watching this of the movie Um The Martian or The Martian with uh yeah, because they're like stuck and can't do anything, and and they have to figure out ways to survive. And so, believe it or not, they do all sorts of interesting things to survive, trust me, it was really fun. Um so um, but gaming-wise, um I'm continuing on Disney Dreamlight Valley. I've been playing Forza Horizon 6, and um I'm almost done with LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight. But I did actually start something that um that I just recently found on my Xbox called Star Trek Online.
SPEAKER_03Very old and very good.
SPEAKER_08Very interesting game. As a matter of fact, it's fun because I just finished a mission last night where my character turned into a Borg. Oh, okay. Yeah, I had to go around killing. What was interesting is I had to, you know, I was trying to shoot Harry Kim because he is now captain Harry Kim from Voyager, right? Oh, he finally didn't get promoted. Well, at least in in online, he's uh he's uh a captain, you know. And it's funny too because Ezri Dax from Deep Space Nine is also a captain. You know, Janeway, of course, is an admiral, and you know, and there's all sorts of different uh aspects in this game. It's really amazing. And what's really fun is you get to walk around Deep Space Nine and see this the plot promenade stuff.
SPEAKER_12Like I said, the game has been out for a long time and it's very mature and very well like taken care of. So it's still fun to play to this to this day.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, for sure. And and um, like I said, I've just been playing for it for a t uh, I think for a total of eight hours at this moment in time, and and it's already kind of exciting because there's there's dog fights that you get to do and stuff like that to in in ships, and you get to walk around and shoot people and things and explore. It's really fun. So uh so yeah. Who who knew who knew? I I I I know it existed, but I never played it because it was like, eh, you know, who cares? You know, it's probably not like I'd probably go to check out, but I'm not a game.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, it's it's actually really good. The stories in it are pretty good. You got a lot of missions you can do. Uh you can upgrade your ships. It's it's a lot of fun. Yeah, it is, for sure. And other than that, that's all I've been doing. All right. Rain, how about you? Uh, well, uh, in the run-up to Postoral, we really didn't have a lot of time. What with making pulgas and and all of that stuff and getting packed and ready, and it was just uh we didn't have a lot of uh time for watching anything, but I did start a new playthrough of Bioshock Remastered. Um, and it's returning, uh, you know, it's it's kind of fun returning to Rapture and facing down the splicers, Big Daddies, Flying Turrets, and the rest of the twisted inhabitants of the Sunken City of the Future. Turret. Yes. Uh the game still holds up pretty well, to be honest, and I think it's well worth giving a go as Steam has it on sale for like $4.99. Uh for both the origin, you get both the original version and the remastered version, which offers higher resolution. So if your computer is old and you can't play the remastered version, you you do get the original version, which plays on most PCs that are still running today. That's some pro Valoon right there. Yes, it is. Uh and if you want to spend a little bit more uh for $11.99, you can get the entire Bioshock collection. Bioshock Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Minerva's Den DLC, Bioshock Infinite, Bioshock Infinite season 3. Bioshock Infinite, Columbia's finest DLC. And like, so why not do it? It's it's it's a lot of fun. Um, I haven't you haven't played them in years, and they they they're still pretty fun. Um you know there's nothing new out right now, so I might as well play.
SPEAKER_02Did you get a kickback for making that endorsement there?
SPEAKER_12No, but I was like, I was like, I just I saw it online, I saw it, I saw a somebody did a a uh you know a kind of history of uh rapture, and I was like, man, I forgot how good that game really was. And I decided to start playing it again, and I was like, man, this game is still pretty solid. And it holds up with today's games pretty well, I think.
SPEAKER_07And um, low key rain is thinking in the back of his mind, okay, tomorrow the check's gonna come. Tomorrow the check's gonna come.

SPEAKER_10Uh, just doing the Corsara thing, he's still doing that, but I've been playing little for night uh because of the in-pencon that we attended. Just managed to cast the last sprite I could before the end of the season. Uh still miss a few of them. And I haven't actually played actually a lot from the new system that started just a few days ago. Because of the I got away with the yes, yes, I was busy giving full gas and fleas to everyone I see. Yes, yes. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_07Whether they wanted it or not, or if they love that or not.
SPEAKER_10Nobody wants full gas, they get full gas. But they got full gas, yes, yes. We're gonna bring 60 or 80 maybe next next year. Yeah, the face of this may when they discovered they could tackle was priceless.

SPEAKER_11TikTok, what are you been up to uh media-wise? Well, we uh watched a pretty interesting docuseries on Burning Man called The Man Will Burn. And it um the timeline skips around uh quite a bit, but it mainly centers around 2021, uh which they did end up canceling, uh, along with you know 2020, of course. But and there's also post-2021. So you get a pretty decent sense of the event's history and their various growing pains. And there's tons of parallels to fruit and furry culture growth and putting on increasingly larger fur cons. The uh the event's explosive attendance in the 90s forced them to move away from like this fun freelance bedlam to a very organized structure and company back behind the whole thing. Uh, and this was due to increasing problems with attendee safety. And um also very much like the furry fandom, there's lots of concerns about cost, commercialism, and a shift away from the you know, the core ethos, uh, which for burners is art, community, respecting nature, you know, leave no choice, that sort of thing.
SPEAKER_12My my friend Chris from high school goes every year that he can, and he's an artist. He makes all kinds of really cool vehicles and stuff for the event. And yeah, it's uh it's important, super important to him just like cons are like fur cons are for us.

SPEAKER_07Okay, well, I have some things. Um I'll try not to make this too long, but um, so I finished um season five, the final season of Lower Decks. Which was awesome. Yes. Um, it's a very, very epic ending. I thought was really great, two-parter at the end, really awesome and stuff.
SPEAKER_12So have you watched the crossover episode yet?
SPEAKER_07No, I just finished that um just the Oh, well which one was a crossover?
SPEAKER_12That's the one where they That's the one where they go to they become real and go to Strange New Worlds.
SPEAKER_07Oh no, I have not.
SPEAKER_12You need to watch that episode of Strange New Worlds because you haven't finished the series until you've seen that. I see. You haven't finished.
SPEAKER_07I will write that down. Um but so and when Chitaro was talking about um Harry Kim, that reminded me of um one of the last episodes. Um they do a uh well there's a well, okay, there's a there's a Delpha what am I trying to say? There's a multiverse thing going on. And like um Harry Kims show up like all the time, and there's like a whole crew of not only but lots of Harry Kim's. Yes. And um and then one of them that shows up um has two pips, and all the others only have one pip. And was like, hey, he has two pips. You mean you actually got promoted? And then one with two pips is all like hating on them the entire episode just because like they you haven't been promoted yet. Harry Kim, Harry Anyway, I remember about that, and that was funny. Yes. Um I'm almost uh I talked last time about how we started St. Dennis Medical hospital, and it turns out it's not, it's not it's in Oregon, it's in Eastern Oregon. They're kind of in competition with Port in general. Anyway, um, but it's really good. Um we're almost done. We've only got a few episodes left. Uh it's really good. Um they only have one season so far. I'm hoping they get another season. Um we finished Andor on Disney Plus. Uh huh. Um and of course now we're going to need to re-watch Rogue One. We've seen it before several times. Yes. Now that we know Yeah, it makes a lot more sense once you know. Oh, yeah. I'm really looking forward to like going into it with that lens on. Um now, so we and we finished this last weekend, and it was really late, and we didn't have time to start Rogue One. It's like we, you know, we want to know what we're watching. We don't want to be so tired that we forget about it. So, but we did, we weren't quite done watching. Like, we wanted more Star Trek, so we started Ahsoka, which means we probably won't continue Ahsoka for a few minutes.

You only said it once, so you're you're good. Once you don't have to go back too far. Anyway, so looking forward to that. Um I started, so just uh yesterday, I started there's a revamp of Night Court.

SPEAKER_07Yeah, and so I started that. It's a 2023 Night Court. Um IMDB gives it only 5.8 out of 10 stars, so I'm not expecting anything great. It's not great. Okay, barely you say okay. So um I've only seen the first episode, so for any friends that don't know that I've seen the original Night Court with Harry Stone, which was awesome. Um, this one features Harry Stone's daughter, Abby Stone, as the judge. It's the same courtroom and everything. So it's kind of a nice um nostalgic thing going on. The only one continuing on from the original Night Court is Dan Fielding, and of course that's the character played by John Larocette. Um so I started at, we'll see how it is.

SPEAKER_07Okay, so we're I think they have three seasons, which is like a little I d uh, I don't know. We'll see. I I'm not gonna make three seasons. I'm I'm I'm excited to see if I may catch up with Barely and make three episodes, so that's great. Um today I also watched the second episode of mating season. Um you might remember I talked about that before I watched the first episode, and for most the entire episode, I had no idea what was going on in so many different ways, but I thought, okay, it it was seemed fun, I guess. Maybe I'll sit. I tried another episode, and I understood more of it this time. It was it was good. I actually kind of like it. Like in today's episode, it was really cool. So they're talking. I think Josh is the main bear, and I forgot is Ray the name of the raccoon, I think. Yes, yes, and so um Ray is talking because you know, what one of the few things I did get from the first episode is that Olivia, Josh's girlfriend, broke up with him. Well, basically just left him while he was hibernating. So he's still all like unhappy about that. But Ray is saying, like, oh well, you gotta get back out there, and he's all like, Well, how do I even do that? And so uh they they talk about going to a bar, and this and Josh is like, Well, I don't what do I do with it? Ah! And then Ray is like, um, well, it's like a game, it's like a game where you say you do stuff and then you do it, and and then Josh is like, Oh, it's like the hokey pokey. And Ray is like, No, it is nothing like the hokey pokey. What you do is like, you know, you gotta get in there. You put your head in, and then you put your head out, and then Josh says, it's like, so it's like the hokey pokey. And then Ray says, No, it is nothing like the hokey pokey. Then Josh says, That is literally what it is all about, and it was hilarious. Um anyway, so I'll probably watch another episode. So that's what I've been watching. Now, what I've been playing, not not much Roll Kingdom, actually, not much uh balloons, um, not much Beachaber. Mostly what I've been playing is Gemcraft. So I talked about this before, and I think I've talked about this a long time ago, but um I mentioned last time that I I've been playing it, but I didn't say anything about it. I thought I want to say some more things about it. Because this is a really, really good game. Okay, so Gemcraft, for all you first that may not know, it's a it's not like Minecraft at all, it's not that. It's a tower defense game where you have gems of various abilities that you put into towers to keep to try and keep the monsters from reaching your orb. So typical tower defense idea, but um a little bit different. Um Gemcraft was originally developed for Flash way back when in 2008. Yeah, so way back. And you can still go and play the original Flash game. They've had several uh iterations that are now on um the fifth edition, which is called Gemcraft Frostborn Wrath, which came out in 2020 on Steam. And that's that's the one I'm currently playing, but I've played um uh, you know, several of the others, which is really great. Now, the Gemcraft series is thought by some to be one of the quote unquote cornerstones of tower defense genre. Um it and I agree, this is like a really amazing game. The overall graphics, of course, it gets better with with each iteration, but the overall graphics are awesome. The play control is really great. Um, especially they've like each iteration, they do better, better with um updating and making better um play control. The design, the music, and backing effects is awesome, the storyline is awesome, and it's it's just a great strategy game, and it's really cool. Overall, I find it to be a very epic tower defense game. And and I mean, you know, you've any furs out there that have heard me um talk about games on and off throughout the throughout the show, um, you know, like Balloon 6, Monkeys Goes Pop, I really love um tower defense games in general, or I really love. But this I really think is really great. As I say, I find it very epic. It really is an epic tower defense game. Um, can keep you busy for days. You definitely aren't just done, you have to come back to levels over and over again and unlock new abilities. It's really cool. I really, really highly recommend it, especially with like tower defense games, even if you don't, if you like strategy games and kind of good storyline with good graphics and and backing sounds, I think um try it out. Um, it's not very expensive right now. Um so for example, I recommend starting with either Gemscraft Labyrinth, which is the third version, third iteration, when that came out in 2011. I think that's on Steam. The next one, the fourth iteration is Gemcraft Chasing Shadows. I really like too, and that came out in 2011, but in 2015 it came back on Steam. Anyway, you so you can get these on Steam. Of course, you can start on Frostborn Wrath, which is the one I'm currently um playing. Uh, I I beat like Chasing Shadows and um Labyrinth, so now I'm on the next one. Um, I don't think you'll miss much in the storyline if you did. It's just a really awesome fun game that I highly recommend. And that's uh what I'll say about that.

SPEAKER_07Oh, like um, so I saw that there was this little okay, total side note, but you're reminding me of this thing here. I just saw like just this morning. There's a little it was a little reel, like a you know, Facebook reel or whatever. The one you sent to me. The one I sent I did, I sent it to you. And it's a tortoise. Yes. No, no, not the tortoise. It's another one. I don't know if I sent this one. The tortoise was very adorable. But um what this reminded me of though was um so the caption is someone says to his friend, hey, can I touch a sloth? And the other person says, No, don't touch a sloth. And then the the video is there's a sloth crossing the road, like really slowly, and like all the cars are avoiding it and stuff. And then um, so the guy, apparently the one that said, Can I touch a sloth, wanted to help it cross the road. So he stops and gets out and try tries to just kind of nudge it along, and it just like loms onto him and he can't like get it off. It's like it's like sticky glue or something, he cannot like shake it off, and someone comes over to try and help him, and he they can't anyway. So, whatever

SPEAKER_02All right, thank you. All right, well, that takes us up to our intrepid news reporter, TikTok with the furry news. What have you got for us?
SPEAKER_11Well, anyway, uh first up. Okay, I've been broken. Bad tapen. Down. Anywho. Get off the furniture. Yes, uh Memphis Fur Meat has been postponed until 2027. The uh event was supposed to be held over Labor Day weekend. However, the Vitality Hotel closed unexpectedly.
SPEAKER_12So yeah, the Vital.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, the Vitals were flatlining on that one. Um the dozens of backup venues were contacted, but none had availability that weekend. And the FurCon is of course in the process of issuing refunds and so forth and fallout.
SPEAKER_07Can I jump in really quick to say it's amazing, not just dozens, but 72 if I remember right, um hotels and centers were contracted between Tennessee and oh what's the other one called Mississippi, I think. Mississippi. Um and like 300 calls were made or something, so they looked like uh very difficult, very hard to do. They tried.
SPEAKER_11They tried and wide. But uh but yeah, so next up, um do something a little bit different, or we've kind of done it similar before, but on Dan Savage's sex advice column, Savage Love, uh furry related questions have been on the rise.
SPEAKER_08Oh yes, or not, yes. Yes, okay.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, still doing the book tours, speaking engagements, the call.
SPEAKER_12He's on uh podcast once in a while. Yeah, he's he's pretty active still.
SPEAKER_11Oh yeah. But uh so I was gonna read one of the questions that was in a recent column, and I thought we could do a little round table on it. Uh before I begin, would you like to read the answer that Dan gave or or hold off?
SPEAKER_10I say hold on. Hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_11Okay, that sounds good. And also a couple comments I uh picked out of the comment section. So, uh I'm a trans woman. A few weeks ago I was hanging out with friends, and one of them, a gay man who is also a furry, told me he thinks his furry identity should be granted the same level of legal name and societal validation as my trans identity. My first thought was I wasn't aware we were getting like any validation at all, you know. Right? But my second thought was to be offended at the comparison between my identity, which I exist in every second of every day, and his furry identity, which seems to be more of a kink. Was I right to be offended?
SPEAKER_12So for me, this this calls into question are they a furry or are they a therian? If they're a therian, I I can almost see they use the word furry though.
SPEAKER_02They said yeah, like furry furnace.
SPEAKER_08So that could be because she does not know that there is such a thing.
SPEAKER_12Etherean or the kind and all the th we do know from fur science that there is a very small but significant portion of uh furries who are therian. Uh so like if they're a therian, I think it's I'm leaning more towards maybe but if they're just a furry, I'm leaning more towards no. It's not the same thing, not at all.
SPEAKER_02It's not the same thing at all. I mean, it yeah, in a furry, you're furry furry for some. Is not you don't live your fursona. Yeah. You are your fursoria. Right. You have to be 100% into it. Now, if you are in your fursuit every day, 24-7, and you live and work and breathe and do everything in it, um, and you want to be recognized as that, then go for it.
SPEAKER_10But uh just but otherwise just the magician, yeah, like the magician uh from Pennant Taylor, he changed his legal name to just Taylor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's that's it. Otherwise, this is just a very fun and kind of expensive hobby, but it's not comparable to a transgender person. No, it's not at all. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08I would say, I would say, in all honesty, I mean, I know that when I was a kid, I was before I came out as a furry, I I think I was a theoryan for sure, because I really wanted to be a cat, in all honesty. Um, and so I but I think in regards to the answer to this one person, I would say no, I don't think it is kind of the same because you know you're you're uh unless you really physically go and change your your appearance from being a person to that animal specifically, which is hard to do. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I was just thinking maybe that might be the case, yes, but I that's probably in less than one percent of furries, so I think it's uh Yeah.
SPEAKER_12I mean, I think it I'm thinking it's like a very small fraction of a percent of furryans, even. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_11So what did what did Dan Savage say? So Dan's answer. The statement this furry made is absurd, and none of my friends would ever say something like that, said a gay fur said a furry gay friend. My my immediately thought uh my immediate thought is what the furry guy is actually asking for. Legal recognition. Does he want his fursona name on his government ID? If he wants to make his fursona his real name, there's nothing stopping him from doing that. He just needs a legal name change.
SPEAKER_07I think that's been done actually. I remember seeing something about that.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, and actually I know a couple furries that have done that. Oh yeah, but they're also trans, so or they are also trans. Uh that said, while it's certainly far harder to exist day to day as a trans person as it is to be a furry, I don't think boiling it down to being a furry to a kink is right. For some, it might be just a kink, but for others, it is very deeply felt.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, yes. I agree. It's it's just like the sexual spectrum. There is a big spectrum also in the furry community of who's into it for kink, who's into it for the for the the community and love and storytelling. And people fall in different places on that, and you can fall in more than one place on that.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, and uh actually speaking of spectrum in the comments, there was that was thrown around a f good bit, you know, is that the guy just might be Spectrum and Yeah, well, most of us are in the fray community. Yeah, spoke out of turn, you know, didn't didn't really think about the statement beforehand, and yeah, you know, maybe have uh unwittingly, you know, accidentally been insulting. Um but so a couple interesting comments that I picked out of there. So Red Blonde says my understanding has always been there is a section of the furry community who feel expression of their whole selves rather than merely their sexual preference describes them exactly. And that there are furries who don't think of it as sexual at all. There are more kids identifying as furries, therians than ever, and there are the furry community events for under 18 that aren't sexual. Uh not those kids don't have sexual feelings, but identifying with and dressing up as animals is such an ancient and common practice in human culture that I've never understand why people find it's find furry so weird or disturbing. And then Larry Stone, 007. I thought this shit was fake. I feel like 90% of the furry stuff is fake. And I think he's referring to previous letters and Dan Savage and you know the whole uproar about this or that furry. It's people using furries to attack LGBTQ people who they otherwise find you know, they otherwise feel bad attacking. Furries don't argue with people, they just do their own thing. They're not out there fighting fights.
SPEAKER_12It's true. For the most part, we're we're a pretty peaceful group.
SPEAKER_11Yes. So I kind of I think Red Blonde had a really good point, and I think Larry's Larry's probably correct. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Like I said, I I think there might be a very small percentage of Therians who have enough dysmorphia that that it would be considered close to maybe what a trans person feels. I don't know, I'm not a trans person.

SPEAKER_08So Chitaro. Do you have a movie review for us? I do have a movie review for us. It's a cool movie that is from 2025. It's streaming on Disney Plus called and and I will make sure that I pronounce it correctly: Grand Prix of Europe. So as funny as this is gonna sound, it it has um this movie was actually created by uh in Germany by German um animators. Animators? Yeah, German animations uh studios. And um and what's interesting is when I was I'm one of those strange people that read all of the credits at the end of movies. I will not leave until all the credits are done, right? Yeah, and so so not only is it German animation uh done, but it also has London the music comes from the London uh Philharmonic Philharmonic Orchestra, yeah. And so it's kind of awesome that they they kind of paired these two together. Now, the movie starts in Paris, but what it is is it's just exactly like what it says. It's the Grand Prix of Europe. It's it's a auto racing. And um, and they explain in the movie that there are that they do four auto races in four different countries, and um, and uh people get eliminated in each uh at each race if they're the last ten, so to speak, so to speak, in this. Well, there's this young mouse uh named Edda who dreams of racing in the Grand Prix, you know, because um we we'll we'll find out later in the movie, and it's not gonna wreck anything, that her father was actually um uh raced in the Grand Prix, and uh he's been teaching her how to race and things like that. So she's constantly dreaming of racing in this, you know, so to speak. But currently what she's doing is she's helping her father run a carnival, and one of the things she does is she runs a race car track there. And it's kind of funny because you know, uh at the very beginning, she's uh, you know, it's um a scene where they're she's driving this car in the Grand Prix, but in reality she's actually at this carnival and and doing all this stuff. Yeah, and so it's like really fun uh the way it starts. But but she she is obsessed with one driver in this Grand Prix. And um now, now like I said, her her name is Edda, and she is a mouse, and she's obsessed with this driver who is also a mouse, and his name is Ed. And so she ends up uh deciding that she wants to help to uh to promote their carnival by going to the first race of or or to one of these events, showcasing the the Grand Prix, uh, and hand out flyers. And as she was doing that, she ends up um seeing Ed's car and she ends up touching it, and then she ends up taking it for a joy ride. Well, he ends up chasing after her, gets caught up in the thing, and as she did this flip in the car uh up and over and around, um, he was hanging on, and then he got injured really bad. And so she said, Well, you can't race in the Grand Prix anymore, so why don't I race in your place? Because we both look almost identical, and they kind of do because they both have blue eyes and they're both mice and the same color and blah blah blah. And besides, with helmet on, you know, nobody will know the difference. So that's kind of what happens in in the rest of this movie where she is racing um in in these races, and it's kind of fun because you know uh the animation in this movie is really awesome, it's amazing. Um, you know, the the i it you can tell that they spent a lot of time on making sure that the cars were right and things of that nature. Now, granted, this is a bunch of animals that are driving these cars, and one of them is a bear, and it's really funny. I'm sorry, Barely, but this bear is is known to always come in second place. So, needless to say, you know, um it's interesting what ends up happening because um, you know, I I again I'm not gonna ruin the movie at this point, but I mentioned the the bear because he is a significant player in the Grand Prix. And so the the the races happen and and she ends up qualifying uh for for um the races and stuff, and so it's kind of fun how that works. There's one race that happens because during these races they actually have somebody who actually throws a little bit of a curveball. Like one race they had these little uh where the the sky lit up in lightning and thunder and and lightning was bolting down at their cars while they were driving. Um well in this other one there was um there there were uh big gigantic snowballs that were trying to hit you off the road, and and then there was another one that had um a sea monster that come out in the arms went onto the road and tried to hurt you. And what was really funny. It does to a small degree, but but there was one thing um because Ed, the the original driver of the car, and Edda, who is the one who dreams of driving in the Grand Prix, um, they were talking about how they miss how she missed getting hit by by the sea monster, and she said, and and he said something, I don't remember what it was that she he said, but she said, You cracking me up.
SPEAKER_12Oh no.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, there's a lot of yeah, there are a lot of fun Tabin level jokes in this in this movie. So no, it's so you would enjoy it, Tabin. I did! Well, I I'm still on the podcast, so of course. Yeah, yeah. So so needless to say, this this movie is really good. Um the you know, there there's no spectacular um music in it, but the music is very nicely done because, well, it's the London Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra that's playing the music. But what's really cool, like I said, there is an underlying uh story or or a theme to this whole thing, and it's like it is okay to do something you always have dreamed of doing, because basically, you know, the the the the movie basically is saying, you know, I'm not sure I should do this, but then it teaches you at the end that yes, you should do these things because you never know what you're gonna have happen uh until you do it. Now, what's what's really awesome is that this movie is going to be re-released. And as ironic as this is gonna sound, um, it's going to be re-released instead of being called Grand Prix of Europe, it's gonna be called the United Kingdom Racing King. Okay. And it's going to be re-released uh in theaters in a major way this year, 25th of November, 2026, in the US. Um and and so it's our anniversary.

SPEAKER_08Yeah, and so so you get a wonderful movie. But but as and it is as it is now, it's streaming on Disney Plus. I am going to give this movie uh four and a half chirps because it is uh you know, I'm not one for watching racing things, you know. Yeah, I got into cars a little bit, but you know, I just watched them because, well, it's cars, you know. Yeah, no big deal. But but this one was kind of interesting because of the dynamic between all the characters and and things of that nature. So so it's worthy of watching. Um, the only reason I'm not giving it a five chirp is because I still don't understand why helium gas is green in this movie. Yeah, it's not. Yeah, so so same shame shame on them for making helium gas green.

SPEAKER_08Right. So, but other than that, go watch it. Watch it on Disney before it gets thrown into theaters. Um, but you know, support it while it's in theaters too. It's worth it, it would be worth

SPEAKER_07I do. We haven't had math for a while, and I and I actually do have a little bit of math. Um, it's it's actually a math puzzle. Okay. So something fun to think about, and I'll give you the answer too, of course, but I'll let you think about first. So, and then I I have um afterwards, I have kind of some general things we can learn in general about thinking. Anyway, um, so think of a chess board or checkerboard. It's an eight by eight, you know, board. Imagine it's covered with with dominoes. Okay. So every square is taken up by a domino. Since there are 64 squares on the board, um, you can cover it with 32 dominoes um in multiple different ways. Okay, so you've done that. Now remove two corners of the board that are diagonally opposite of each of each other. So at the very, you know, ends. Mm-hmm. Or yeah, that yeah, I see what you're doing with here. Yeah, yeah. Um, so remove those two. Now the question is, um, so there's uh 30 or sorry, there's 62 squares remaining. So is it possible to cover the remaining board with 31 dominoes that do not overlap? And if so, how can you do it? If not, why can't it, why is it not possible?
SPEAKER_02Um I'll say no.
SPEAKER_07And do you have a well I'll let I'll let others think and give me their yes or no, and then we can go around and see if you have any reasons or if it's just a good word to say.
SPEAKER_08I would say it has to be possible, but I I'm gonna say it's possible.

SPEAKER_07That is also a good answer. And and Ray, where'd Rain go? Um, okay. Does anyone have well, Chitaro? I think I know your thing. You don't have a this seems like it's possible. You don't can't think of necessarily how right after a head, which is how a lot of you know puzzle selecting this go. You get an intuition, and um then you go from there. So, TikTok, do you have a thought as to why the answer is maybe?
SPEAKER_11Well, I said maybe, but I just uh did the quick internet searchy, and it's called the butylated chessboard problem. You're cheating.
SPEAKER_07Oh you are cheating, you are cheating.
SPEAKER_12I am cheating, but no, I just thought that's you can't trust them. Yeah, they're always connected to the internet, always, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and so barely, do you have a reason for your no? No. Okay, no, that's good. Again, you gotta have just some intuition and then you go from there and see how it goes. So it turns out that it is not possible. So good for you, Barely. And here's why. So each cut each domino covers one black square or and one white square. Suppose those are the two colors. Okay, so which means that um the board has an equal number of black and white squares. Now, if you take the corner squares out, since they're diagonal, if you think about how the board is, you're taking out two of the same color because the diagonal entries are of the same color. So now you have 32 colors of one color, 30 colors of another color, but the dominoes have to cover um adjacent squares, they have to cover the same number of uh colors, and that isn't happening in this situation. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_10Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_08Uh-huh. Chitaro looks. It no. I hate saying no, but it it it doesn't make sense. Only only because if there well, anyway, I'll let you go on though. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_07Well, so I was just gonna it so it makes sense to the majority of us, so that's great. The the point one of the points here is that um this is actually a good example of uh a problem, a math problem that seems really complicated and like, well, I'm not sure, yes or no, it may uh but it but then if you think about the the properties of what's going on, like how this the chessboards are laid out, the interaction with the domino, so you think of not the configurations but the overall properties of the situation, it turns out it's actually a pretty simple solution. So the thing here to learn that we can take away from this is that um when you're learning things and working through solving problems and everything, it's tempting to kind of be brute force about it and just compute a bunch of things. But if you step back and think about the properties of what's going on and how things interact, sometimes um the answers are actually not that difficult. And and it turns out that indeed, to all you first that are um going on to do more things in math, for example, especially like abstract algebra, for example, linear algebra, if you think understand, don't just memorize recipes and calculations and memorize formulas and stuff, but understand. Understand what's going on, you can better and even more efficiently solve problems. And that is my math for the week.
