The following is a special spotlight episode of BFFT. Spotlight on Ronnie Callen.
SPEAKER_04Hello, Ronnie. I said hello, Ronnie.
SPEAKER_02Hello, Tabin.
SPEAKER_04Hello. Hello, Barry.
SPEAKER_03Hello, Ronnie. Hello, Tabin. Well, to all our listeners out there, we are sitting down with Ronnie. Collin. Callan. Yes. Ronnie Callan. And yes. You last appeared on our show in November of 2020. So that was a while ago.
SPEAKER_04Season one, episode 29. Season one. We're in season seven.
SPEAKER_03It really was. You were one of our establishing guests, actually. So really? Yes.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you were one for um way back in the beginning, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Wow, my goodness. We've all come a long way. We have. Well, I mean, you've moved from somewhere and uh you're down in the in the main states. You were up in Alaska for a while, weren't you?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And now I'm down in Washington. I'm originally from California, but I was I did spend half my life in Alaska, and now I'm down in Washington. Have been since wait, when did we do the first? When did we move the November of 2020? That was the that was the month that I moved. Wow. Okay. I moved I moved the day after Thanksgiving. Oh, geez. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So what brought you down to Washington from uh from Alaska?
SPEAKER_02Oh I've always wanted to come down to Washington. I have so, so, so many friends here. Oh. And every time, well, nearly every time I would go to a con, I have a layover uh in Seattle, and I would come and I would come visit friends here. And then there were a couple times where I would just visit friends like just as an actual trip and stay for a weekend here. And the more I visited and the more I got to know people and meet people, the more I really enjoyed this area. And I kept thinking it would be so wonderful to live here. Like I remember I remember thinking thinking that back in 2013 when I came down to um for a weekend, I think it was May of 2013, I came down uh for a weekend to visit friends uh who lived in Renton. And back then I remember thinking how amazing and how wonderful it would be to actually live here. And um in 2020, uh my best friend who uh who I who I visited the most most often when I had my low layovers, he told me that two roommates had moved out of his house and said, Hey, if you still want to move down here, there is we do have a spot open. Wow, we do have a couple spots open. So we And so you left right away. Um I wouldn't say I left right away. Um there was a couple months long process. Uh yeah, at least at least a couple. I can't I can't remember exactly what what month it was that he said that room dope opened up, but it I it was like a couple months-long process.
SPEAKER_03I do remember that much. All right, cool, cool. Yeah, Renton is nice. My parents used to live in Renton many, many years ago. Yep. Oh okay. Yep.
SPEAKER_04I I hear other people have lived in Renton too. A few, yes. A few other people, yes.
SPEAKER_02Indeed, other people have. There's people there right now. What? Really? Yeah, that happened.
SPEAKER_04That must have happened back in November of 2020.
SPEAKER_02So I'm guessing anyway. Really? Okay. Yeah. So if I want Dutch Bros, I mean there's plenty that this is like this is like the cap, this is like the coffee capital of the US, but like if you want Dutch Bow specifically, the nearest one is in Renton. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. It's about maybe 15 minutes from my house.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that's not too bad. That's not too bad. Yeah. If you really want Dutch. I can I can I can hit a Dutch bros by swinging a dead cat where I live. So there's like 10 within walking distance of me.
SPEAKER_04Barely, do you often swing dead cats around?
SPEAKER_03I do. I do. When I want to see just how close things are, I grab them by the tail, minus them around, and I see just how many, how many places I can hit.
SPEAKER_04Well, I I know some furs that I should let like should not stay around you when you're at a fur con, apparently.
SPEAKER_03Well, if they're alive, they're fine. Oh, okay. That's right. There's a it's the dead ones, and that's to be careful.
SPEAKER_04The dead ones have to be careful. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I'm also kind of biased because like my boyfriend loves Dutch Bros, and that's like his go-to coffee place. And he he down in Portland, his his nearest copy coffee place is Dutch Bros.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_04So he can swing like several dead cats and he just totally could.
SPEAKER_03He could probably swing a dead mouse and hit a Dutch Bros. He could walk, he could walk to Dutch Bros, actually. So yeah.
SPEAKER_04He wouldn't even have to swing a dead mouse. He could just walk.
SPEAKER_03He could just walk. So you made you made a uh mention there that you have a boyfriend, so uh he lives in in Portland, Oregon, and you live in Seattle? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, I I live in actually I live in SeaTech, which is okay. Right. Yeah, but like rent so Renton was the spot where uh I had visited uh friends back in May of 2013 for like their um birthday party. It was actually the first time I ever DJ'd because they hadn't they let me DJ for that party, and that's kind of what kicked off uh you know me being you doing that, me doing that, yeah. And uh and I just that's that's that's what I remember I remember thinking I would love to live here. I've never lived in Renton, I've always lived I've I live I lived in Shoreline once we which is just north of Seattle when when I moved here for a year and a half, and then we moved to SeaTac. Uh so I'm I'm actually four minutes from the airport and like five minutes from South Center Mall. So I'm actually quite close to Renton, but I don't live in Renton.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm very familiar with South Center Mall. Spent many Christmases shopping there. Oh god, I'm sure a lot of people have. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um, did you have to swing a dead deer?
SPEAKER_03No, I'm sure he didn't. He didn't. Okay, okay. So well, that's that's cool. How long have you and your partner been together?
SPEAKER_02We have been together for it'll be three years at the end of October.
SPEAKER_03Nice.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, very cool. And and so, but you can make the the distance thing work okay. I guess it's not it's what like three hours or something.
SPEAKER_02That's it's yeah, it's just three hours. The distance is like to me, it's like nothing because it's it's just three hours. I mean, that's it. It takes me, it takes me two and a half hours to get down to Vancouver, Washington. So like at that at that point, you know, it's just it's that's it's just so easy. I mean, and it's I don't know, it just feels like so not an issue for me. Like it definitely was an issue, it wasn't an issue, especially the beginning when we like visited each other uh almost every other weekend. And uh we were he would come up here, I would come down there. It's kind of it's kind of worth it too, because like I can I was I was I can always swing by the in-and-out burger on the way down there. So I uh you know you know I gotta I get like a special little treat, and now that there's actually two in and outs in you know around Vancouver and Witchfield, I don't even have to go to Portland for for it. I can just get it in in Washington.
SPEAKER_04You can just get it. You can just get it.
SPEAKER_02I can get it to In and Out and the Dutch Bros.
SPEAKER_03You're good to go. Exactly, exactly. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Um the distance is not an issue at all. So no.
SPEAKER_04Speaking of distances, um, you I heard just got back from your friends. I did. I did. Tell us about I haven't been, well, the only international quote unquote con I've been to is Vancouver in Canada several times. International.
SPEAKER_02You know, Canada's a whole other country, Tabin. It it is? Yeah, they have their own government, they have a prime minister instead of a president. Wow.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I have so many things I could say about that, but I won't.
SPEAKER_03Um well, you know, we are currently at war with them, so you know.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, the trade war. Uh we're what's fun. Amazing times we're living in, huh?
SPEAKER_03Well, technically technically, our leadership, if you if you look at how international things work, um our our leadership claimed the entire Lake Ontario as being Lake America. That really just drove me up the wall.
SPEAKER_02I saw that and I was like, and then Google like actually validated it by the but see here's the deal.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that lake is owned by half of that lake is the property of Canada. Yeah. By claiming all of it, that is actually a declaration of war because we have declared that the lake belongs to us. Oh gosh. So if Canada wanted to retaliate militarily, they could because technically we declared war on them.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, they did they did burn down the White House in the War of 1812, so well, maybe they should do it again because it needs to be burned down.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm just saying I'll give them a pack of matches and some gasoline and they can take care of it.
SPEAKER_02I mean I know the the more of that the moral of that story is don't fuck with Canadians. I mean, because they they make much they they're they are peaceful for a reason, you know, until you push them, you push them to the brink and it's like, okay, we're just gonna burn your house down.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I have lots of friends that are Canadians and I love them to death. And same, same. So, you know, but but that doesn't tell us about your afference. So tell what tell us about your furrance.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay. Segue.
SPEAKER_02That was well, that was well done. That was it was my third eureference, actually. Oh really? Oh yeah, Euroference, in my opinion, is the best furry convention in the world.
SPEAKER_04And I've heard it's really good.
SPEAKER_02I have and I yeah, and in my in my opinion, I don't think it's particularly close. AC is my second favorite, and NFC is my third favorite, but eureference, your afference is what I would describe as so you know how Anthrocon has the fursuit parade and the block party on Saturday, like you know after the after the first suit parade. Oh, well, not this year, because like since we shut it down. On a normal year, you know, after the first seat parade where the whole city comes down to watch and you know partake, um, they shut down that whole intersection of Penn Avenue and then they let all the um normies interact and mingle with the furries for I think six hours from four to from four to ten. Wow. Um that is every day at EF.
SPEAKER_04Oh, wow. Oh really? Wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, every day at EF that that that can happen. Because because the inference takes place also in a big, large, uh very open convention center. With it's a really, really innovative design. I've never seen a convention center quite like the one they have in Hamburg. It's called the Congress Convention the Congress Convention Center. Okay. And it's in its own sort of spot of Hamburg. I d it's it's really hard to describe, actually. It's it's in a it's in its own kind of section of Hamburg where it's a the f the the plan the floor plan of this is really quite remarkable. There's this big massive courtyard where furries also congregate in. Of course, it's it's huge. And in that court in that courtyard, uh you have people first seating, you have four different food trucks right out there, you have VR chat DJs who've set up like a live stage right in the courtyard, and they're just they're DJing right then and there. It's called those cloud, those guys are called the Placeholder Club, and they hold DJ sets right in the courtyard. And then there's and then there's also like concerts, like Pepper Coyote did it, did a did a live concert out there. Um there's a there's another singer called Whispers, he did a live concert out there, and it's just really, really cool. I've never seen anything like that before. And then the con and then you know the convention center, you can just walk right in and it's it's huge, it's very spacious. Uh the first time we I went there, we didn't have access to the fifth floor yet because we didn't fill it to the to quite quite enough. But the year after, and this year we have access to the whole convention center. Wow, and it's just it's really wonderful. Uh because unlike a lot of other big cons, AC does not suffer from this. But unlike other big cons, say MFF and FWA, everything it's it's so packed that it's actually quite crowded. And I mean very, very crowded. To the point where I don't really enjoy fursuiting as much at those cons is because there are there will be times where you're like shoulder to shoulder with people, and then like you just like especially FWA, it's just cramped. Yeah. Um EF is not that at all because this space is just so massive that it gives you lots of breathing room. So it really is like, in my opinion, it's probably the perfect fursuiting con. Um AC does AC does not have this issue because it's also like an outdoor con. Like the convention center is so massive that you're never shoulder to shoulder with people. Yeah. Where did you go?
SPEAKER_04I went in 2018. It's changed quite a bit. I have well, I imagine it has, but I do remember the um convention center, as you say, is just so spread out, and you're not there's a ton of people there, but you don't really know it because it's just so spread out.
SPEAKER_02And then with AC, I mean they have the first two cruises and they have that like the like the block party wasn't a thing in 2018, I don't think. I don't think that was a thing until 2022. Don't quote me on that. But AC also has the waterfront, which it that part is crowded. But it's it's never like that at EF. I mean, and the way they're pro the way they do their programming, I really, really admire uh the amount of work that goes into their programming, like especially with opening and closing ceremonies. They make that a whole show. Like NFC also also was great with this. They're they're theming, their programming, their opening and closing ceremonies are a whole actual production and a whole show that is just a marvel to watch. That's it's it makes me really not want to miss opening ceremonies, actually.
SPEAKER_04So I went to um Anthro Week on Utah this year. This is my first time. The opening and closing ceremonies was the same sort of I mean, you know, I don't know what opening their production, how big it is at EF, but this was the first time I've really seen an actual like show in an opening and closing ceremony. So they do that. I mean, eight Awu is um a lot smaller, of course, but um it was I I so I guess what I'm trying to say is I know what you're saying in that opening and closing ceremonies being a production, it's it's an it's a big difference. It's like as you say, you actually want to go to opening ceremonies.
SPEAKER_03So so what's the main difference between uh a European conference and uh an American conference? Uh what are the major differences and and comparisons, contrasts?
SPEAKER_02Uh well the biggest the biggest, most obvious one uh is the demographics. The espe particularly with Euroference. So Euriference does have quite a few North American furries who go. Like I went, quite a f a couple of my local buddies went. Other Ronnie, Canadian Ronnie, the red dragon, he goes. That's that's like that's like his favorite con. That's he's the one who got me interested in that con, actually. But by and large, most furries, the majority of furrier furries are gonna be European, and it's gonna be a lot of European furries who don't come to North American cons, which m really changes up the vibe, actually. And I kind of really like that because your reference and NFC they both kind of thrive on the celebration of people from different backgrounds. Like at any given point, there was one point where one of my one of my local buddies here in Seattle, who's from Australia, but lives in Seattle, uh, he he he came there with his boyfriend, who is also another local buddy of mine who's from who's who lives here in Seattle. The but I met up with I met up with him, and then at the same time right before that, I ran into two other friends of mine, one of them is also from Australia but lives in the Netherlands, and his boyfriend lives with him in Germany. Oh, sorry, no, no, no, no, sorry. His his boyfriend is from Germany, but they both live together in the Netherlands. So they're all over. Yes, and then we and also and then we ran into somebody, we ran into Fox and Moore, who's from Scotland, Scotland, yep. And then we ran into then we ran into Easy Wolf, who's from the Netherlands. We know Easy Well, okay. Yes, and then like there's just this there's this group of us just all vibing and hanging out, and it was just really, really wonderful because at any given point you could have be in a group with friends where someone's from the Netherlands or Germany or Australia or Canada or the US or Spain or or Sweden, and there really is like this just this celebration of this this diversity that I don't really see at North American cons. And I mean I don't I don't expect to see that at North American cons because most people who come to North American cons are North American. So but like the vibe is just really really different there. I don't know, I I really I appreciate that. And the fursuit lounges, the fursuit lounges are really unlike anything you've ever seen because North American cons they don't they they they don't do this, they don't and I don't know why, but at at EF and NFC, you have like entire giant ballrooms that uh that are the focus for the fursuit lounge. You have in European culture it's actually very, very common and normal for people to just store their suits in the fursuit lounge. Like you want to go fursuiting, they store your fursuit in the in the fursuit lounge. There's there's racks, there's dozens of dozens and dozens of racks of fursuit bodies, fursuit heads, you know, and fursuit parts, and they'll just store them often overnight, and just come back and get your fursuit whenever you're ready to fursuit. And to me, that was pretty surreal to see because I I'd never just because we don't do that in North America, and yeah, the cult the culture is just it's just a different culture. But like you have every kind of fursuit amenity you could dream of sewing kits, repair kits, all kinds of all the craziest fans, the biggest fans you've ever seen. You uh you have all kinds of different refreshments from snacks uh to all different kinds of beverages that it that is way more than just water. Like you want you need electrolytes, they have they have electrolytes in spades.
SPEAKER_04So it's like and and I remember I think it was Easy Wolf that well, so we've had actually both Fox Moore and Easy Wolf on the show before. And I think it was Easy Wolf that was saying that Eurofronts is um like uh I want to say, well, there's a lot more fursuiting at Euroference, like the percentage of fursuiters, um, as opposed to American cons. And so that makes sense then that you're saying they've got a whole like a whole portion of the con is devoted to the fursuiting there. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02That was my next that was my next point, actually, is they um they take fursuiting for lack of a better word, there's really no better no better way to say this. They take first suiting a lot more seriously in in in Europe than they do than they do in North America. Tabin, I think you would actually this would this would be right up your alley, actually, because um you'd you're you're just you're just a lot less likely to come across fursuiters or walk walking around with your head with their heads, like with their head and their hands. It's I mean, not to say that people don't do that, but like the extent of how of how often that happens is like night and day at nort at European cons compared to North American cons. You'll see a lot less poodling, for example. Not that that not that that's a problem. I do I'm I have no problem with that. People can fursuit however they want, but like just poodling as a thing is it's a lot more rare at European cons. Like a lot more rare. It still happens, uh, but it's just more rare.
SPEAKER_03Now did you go by yourself or did you go with your boyfriend or a group of friends?
SPEAKER_02My boy, my boyfriend has not been out of the country. Maushi has not been out of the country yet. Even though he just got his passport in in May, he still has not left the country yet.
SPEAKER_04It happens, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I went there by myself, but I was I was exploring Germany beforehand because I uh for your for European cons I like to make it like a real substantial vacation. So I like to visit friends uh often in other countries beforehand, whether it's like the Netherlands or Ireland or England, and just you know, pre-game for a few days, and then often I'll fly with them together to the con. This time around I was vi I was uh visiting friends in Nuremberg because I really wanted to see more of Germany. So I flew into Munich because all my German friends say you gotta go if you want to see more of Germany, Munich's the place you gotta go. You gotta go to Munich. So I said, cool. So I flew into Munich and I've never seen this at I'd never seen this at North American airports before, by the way. So feel free to tell me if I'm wrong about this. But at European airports, they have like luggage storage service centers where you can store your luggage. I didn't even know that was a thing. So that used to be a thing in America, it's not anymore. Oh, so okay, so oh so it's not a thing, okay. No, it's not a thing. Okay, I was blown away to find that that to find out that European airports did this. So I stored all my luggage and then went out to explore Munich for a few hours, and that was that was amazing. It was it was fantastic. Best strudel I've ever had in Munich. Well, thank you. That that makes sense, yeah. And then and then in the after that afternoon, after being in Munich for a few hours, I took the train into Nuremberg and spent the next two days with my buddies who live down there, and they uh I crashed with them. We uh went out and got some dinner. I explored Nuremberg, went to the Lind factory. You know Lind the chocolate. Uh there's a there's a Lind, there's a specifically a Lind shop in Nuremberg. It's it's crazy. It's it's amazing. So it's crazy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um so I went there exploring the city, beautiful city. Uh first time I had Schnitzel.
SPEAKER_04Really?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. My third time in Germany.
SPEAKER_04It's gonna be first time to do it, it's there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, first time in no third time in Germany, I hadn't had Schnitzel until this time.
SPEAKER_04Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02So that was great. And then I took the train into up to Hamburg, and that was a beautiful, lovely, lovely train.
SPEAKER_04And was that that the first time you had a hamburger?
SPEAKER_03I knew you were gonna go there, Tabin. I just knew it. I thought in my brain I'm gonna I could say it, but I'm gonna leave it to Tabin, and he did. I've had hamburgers. I've had hamburger. Glad to help. Glad to help. We just talked, we just talked about In and Outburger, right? Yes. Okay, there you go. Now do you do you compete at the uh European conferences?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I do. And did you win? No, no. No. No. The past two years, I got second place in 2024 and 2025. This time around, I got fourth place out of 20. Well, that's not bad. No, that's that's fine. I mean, what really what really matters is like just the time, the journey, and the experience. I I'm just happy to just be on stage and just compete and just go out there and do my thing. Because like Tabin, you know, there's so many different variables that happen with fursuit dance competitions that like the bare minimum for me is like, okay, can I did it? Can I is can I can I get on stage? Does my fursuit look okay? Yeah. Uh am I going to like try and roll up into a puddle? Right. I mean, is I mean, did my did my fursuit paw come off? Did my is my my head's not gonna come off? Did my do I remember my choreography? Yeah, did I did I did I slip and fall?
SPEAKER_04Do I remember which song I'm actually dancing to? Yeah, do I remember what song I'm dancing to?
SPEAKER_02All these different variables. Yeah, there's a lot of things. Um I mean, do they did they play the right song? Um all these things that are just kind of out of my control. Right. Most of them out of my out of my control. You know, that that at that at that point, you know, top three is kind of a little away from my mind. Yeah. It's it's nice to have. It's it's it's icing on the cake. Because like, I don't know, the first time I went in 2024, it was a dream come true. Cause I'd always wanted to go to Europe for instance. And I never thought I'd I never thought I'd be able to. So to f and then like I used to watch their their dance competition videos years. Like it's part of what got me into dancing, is watching Enter the Arena like back in 2011, back in 2012. Some of those, some of those dancers, some of those dances are what inspired me to dance. So like so to like finally go out there and do my thing, and then to be granted second place. I I I could not believe that I was actually shocked. I I never thought that would happen. I genuinely never thought that would happen. So it really is like a nice surprise. Well, particularly if you don't testament at your talent.
SPEAKER_04It is. I actually am not surprised because I've seen you dance many times, Ronnie, and um I'm not surprised. Oh well, thank you.
SPEAKER_02That's very kind.
SPEAKER_04So did were you Ronnie at this year, or were you your new your bro border colleague?
SPEAKER_02I was I was Ronnie. I don't really compete in Eden. I competed in Eden once at MFF 2024. But I I I like I like dancing in Ronnie more because Ronnie's a slightly, slightly more former fitting suit. It's a bit tighter, and uh the head stays on uh better. Like Eden's head, when I when I dance in Eden, uh the head isn't uh quite as snug as Ronnie's is. So it's not quite as fun to dance in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So competition wise, if I really want to go out there and give like a serious performance and go all out, I I would feel better wearing wearing Ronnie.
SPEAKER_04Well, and of course, um a lot of furs know Ronnie, the dancer, so it's more of a trademark, I guess, uh, icon. Yes, maybe it's the words to say, I don't know. Yes, you could say that. I guess and in fact I did.
SPEAKER_03You did? Out of curiosity, how much not counting your extra vacation time at the at the conference, but how much did it cost you to get to your reference, go to your reference, and then come home? Jesus. Um that's a good question. Um less than a house in Seattle, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_02Oh, of course. Yeah, definitely. Um let's see. I don't remember how much my plane tickets cost when I bought them. Um but on average, if I if I had to say on average, it would on average between the flights, this is if this is if I'm not buying the flights with airline miles, which I usually do. I usually fly to Europe with airline miles. Okay. Um but if I had to pay if I was paying cash, uh, I think it would be like an average of $800 or more for a flight for like for like getting there, flying there and getting getting back. Okay. Uh it varies. Sometimes it can be like $700. It really, really varies. Um depending on the case.
SPEAKER_04It's actually not too bad, actually.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'll tell you what, it costs me, it cost me about almost three times less uh for this plane ticket that I'm I'm gonna buy to Stockholm for NFC in February versus flying to New flying to uh flying to New York um in December.
SPEAKER_03So uh that's that's that sounds about right, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that's that's kind of funny.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, international travel seems to be less expensive than domestic travel.
SPEAKER_02It's just very strange. Now the now the one the one kind of issue uh actually is with cost because the hotels, even though there is a quote unquote group rate, like a con, like a convention rate, the hotels are still expensive as hell. They are the most ex the EF is the most expensive con by far I've ever done because of how expensive the hotel is. And we're talking like I don't know, your average hotel stay for a con in North America will probably, I mean, depending on how many days you stay, will probably be around maybe no probably no more than eleven hundred dollars. Uh at EF it's literally twice that. Okay. Not because it's a new not because it's in Euros, but because just like it's just the cost. Expensive. Yeah. Like like our like our room, I think it was three 300 euros a night. Wow. In the main hotel. And it's always been like that. It's been like that every year that I've gone.
SPEAKER_04Is it a nice hotel though?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, it's a great hotel. It's a really nice hotel. It's it's a it's a fantastic hotel. It's not it's not like it's not like it's the best hotel I've ever seen, but it's a it's a great hotel. Yeah. It's a great hotel. It's an and it's attached it's attached to the convention center as well. So that's convenient. That is nice. The convenience, it's like it's like how the West End is attached to the David Lawrence Convention Center, or like how the Hilton and Marriott are attached to the San Jose. San Jose Convention Center, yeah. The San Jose Convention Center. The Radisson. The Radisson is attached directly to the Congress Convention Center. So the convenience of being there is uh And and Al Wu.
SPEAKER_04I keep forgetting which hotel it was, but the the Al Wu, the convention center, is right attached to the hotel too, and that's really nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, it's it's just convenient. I mean you got you can't really beat that. Like the next best hotel is probably like the Grand Ilse. I don't even know how to say it. Uh, but it's like across the it's like across from the train station. That's like a six-minute walk. Um they have a great steakhouse though. That that that's a great place to go eat. Okay. Uh, and then there's the inner city, which is on the other side of the courtyard. Uh from so it's like that's I think that's like also a six-minute walk in the other direction. And then there's other hotels are around in the in the vicinity, but the three best ones to stay at are probably the Radisson, the Grand Del C and the um the inner city. Although I would not although I would not say the inner city is a great hotel itself.
SPEAKER_04These are good things to know. So, all you furs out there, if you ever plan to go to your furrence, this is really good information, definitely.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely, absolutely. I will say the registration for EF is also like the most expensive I've seen for any con because not because it's in Euros, but just but just because of the actual like the number, like just the cost. Like, I think I'm trying I can't I can't even remember how much it was, but it was like every every time I see it, I'm always like, damn, that's expensive. So um it's like it's it's it's it's it's over a hundred euros. That's and that and that's like that's like for a standard attendee. It's like I think it's like a hundred and sixty euros, I think.
SPEAKER_04I think. And how many I don't know conversions. How many US dollars is that?
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's it's it's it's more expensive than the dollar by far. The uh the conversion is like really uh I can't remember. I think it's like 1.3 something like that.
SPEAKER_04I so like it's an attendee might be $130, $150.
SPEAKER_02No. Oh and it for us it would be like I think I think I think it would be like $216 or something like that.
SPEAKER_04Just for attendee?
SPEAKER_02Just for attendee. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_03Well, something like that. According to the Googler, the current rate of exchange is $1.16 US dollars to the euro. Okay. So so if it's a hundred and so if it's a hundred dollars, then it's a hundred and sixteen dollars US. So something like that.
SPEAKER_02I I I can't I can't remember because I did my registration like months ago.
SPEAKER_03Well, yeah, you do it so far in advance that you really don't get to do.
SPEAKER_02I don't even think about it at that point.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Um you just hit the butt, close your eyes, hit the button, and go. Yeah. And you watch your bank account goop. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yep. The other the other the other joy of it though is like it's is that like you're in Europe. You're in you're in another country, you're in Germany. And like Hamburg, Hamburg is really unlike any other city I have ever seen, both in Europe, both in Europe and in North America. I've never seen another city like that before. And I that's part of why I love it. I was having uh lunch with other Ronnie, and he talked about how much he l liked uh Hamburg more than other cities, uh, more than Munich and Nuremberg, because those are those are very old, oldest cities with like a gothic architecture.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Whereas like whereas like Hamburg has has that, but like mixed with a lot of modernity. Like it's still it's still very yeah, it's still like it's it's still a very city.
SPEAKER_03That's not babies, Tabin. That's maternity that's totally different.
SPEAKER_02Oh, oh, okay, I see.
SPEAKER_03That's hilarious.
SPEAKER_02But like I guess a good way to describe it would be like if you took Amsterdam and just spread it out like so much, like like really spread it out, because Amsterdam is a very dense city. Uh like it's a I I guess it's like if you took Seattle and if like Seattle and Amsterdam had a baby, it would it was it would be something like Hamburg.
SPEAKER_04So there's where the maternity comes in. Okay, so maternity, yes.
SPEAKER_01But the other the other thing is Hamburg, Hamburg's scale is how vast and vast.
SPEAKER_02Not by how like horizontally, not how not vertically. It's not like it's not as very no, not nearly, not not nearly. And like the sky's you're not you're not gonna run into like a whole bunch of Thai skull scrap sky skyscrapers, it's just very, very vast in child how how big it is in terms of the the size and the the the uh land mass. Nice. But it's a but it's a very beautiful city. It's it's I've been saying that it's like my favorite host city for any furricon that I've been to so far. Cool. It really it really is. And their food, the food options are glorious. You have no shortage of food options, like truly, yeah, truly. There's a there's a Korean fried chicken place that we keep going to every day. Okay. Uh it was it it was great.
SPEAKER_04Is um that other is that Ronnie Noodles? Yeah, yeah. That that that that we've we've had him on the show too before. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes, all of your friends have been guests on our show.
SPEAKER_02Actually, everyone you've been mentioning we've had on the show. What if like you had what if like you just assembled the Avengers and like had all of us on the show at the same time? That'd be amazing. That'd be amazing. We should do that. That'd be amazing.
SPEAKER_03I mean, we've had we've had Foxamore, we've had Pepper Coyote. We've had uh Uncle Kage, we've had you, we've had Runny Noodles, we've had uh oh yeah, just just everybody you've mentioned we've had on the show.
SPEAKER_02Uh you know, at the very least, just to have Ronnie and I together to just like riff together, oh my god.
SPEAKER_03That'd be so much fun.
SPEAKER_02We should do that. Yeah, we should do that. We should do that. Well, we so like this was the it but consider can considering him. We he was he judged the dance competition again. Oh, cool. Uh because he judged last year. And when I when I came up and did my performance, he uh the the the the commentary he gave about Ronnie on Ronnie action was just that's just really that was that ended up being a bit.
SPEAKER_04It was that was kind of I'll have to make sure and go to the YouTube and um check that out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yes, yes, and Ronnie Noodles, if you're listening, give us a call. Let's come on the show. Come on with Ronnie, we'll have a great time. Come on with Ronnie, Ronnie, please.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And then um and then when I judged the dance battles, uh Pause on Fire, he ended up I still don't quite know how this happened, but like he ended up being like an impromptu guest host because Well, he wasn't I don't think he was supposed to host. Uh and then he kind of and then he got and then he got dragged into hosting because I think one of the co-hosts was like had like overslept, I think is what happened. Oh so that they like voluntoled him in into it like at the last second. Wow. And then and then that ended up being a bit because when they introduced the judges, and they introduced me. Oh no, and then the co-host actually showed up. So he showed up and then and then they kicked Ronnie off. Okay. And then and then and then we did a bit where they introduced the judges and they introduced me because I was judging Paul's on fire, the dance battles. Right. And then he stood right next to me. And so when they said, Here's your other judge, Ronnie, and then like we're like trying to figure out like, oh, which Ronnie? Which Ronnie? Yeah, right. So that was kind of fun.
SPEAKER_04So I remember I forget which con it was, but one con at one point long ago, I was in the dance battles, but I uh I didn't make it, I might have made it to the second round. I don't remember how far I made it, but then halfway through the MC had a medical thing, and so I got pulled on to finish MCing it. But but but then I think it was the the mascot or or I don't know, some other fursuiter, some mascot or something, then challenged me while I was MCing. So I danced and then MC'd and then danced, and it was very tiring, is what I'm trying to say. It's like coming out of doing the dance and then straight into MCing again. It's like I I don't even know how I did that. Yeah, I think I I think I remember that actually. You might have actually been there. I'm pretty sure I was there when I saw that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, no, I no, it was AW. It was AW. I think that was AW 2019 or 2021. Sometime back there, yeah. That sounds fair.
SPEAKER_03Sometime back there, yes.
SPEAKER_02Again, a whole that's a again a whole lifetime ago.
SPEAKER_03A whole nother lifetime ago. A whole lifetime ago. So are you still on the music video business?
SPEAKER_02Yes, although I haven't made a music video in in four years. Oh, because you've been busy. I have been busy. I um it's funny. One of the videographers who's a buddy of mine, uh, Telexis, he just moved uh to Seattle, and I I thought I was we was talking to him like, hey, do you want to do a music video like here at this location? He's like, Yes, yes. Question mark? He said he did say yes, so I need to follow I need to follow up with him and like actually get that done because there's a there's a park out here that I really really want to film a video at. So I mean, now that I don't have any more cons this year, I think I feel like I can finally make that happen, focus on that.
SPEAKER_03Nice. Okay. So no more cons this year. Are you gonna go to uh Anthro Northwest uh in January?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. No, my next my next con is my next con is uh NFC in February. Oh saving my money for that. You gotta come down to Ferlandia in May. You know what's funny about that actually is so my boyfriend Maushi, he's the one he has been raving about this con for the past two years since yeah, since last year. And the amount of Seattle furs who went down there this year, apparently, last year and especially this year, were like it was like overwhelming. Yes. And it's like apparently it's like the new, it's like the new hotness of the of the of the uh PNW, like everyone's gotta go. So I'm kind I'm pretty I'm very curious and very interested about going next year. So there's a strong chance I will go.
SPEAKER_03Good, good, good, good. We'd love to see you there. Absolutely would love to see you there. We have grown uh exponentially. In fact, uh we have we had a new venue this year and we outgrew that the first year.
SPEAKER_02I heard that's what I heard. That's what I heard, and I was pretty impressed by that. So, like, what's what's happening next? What do you think is gonna happen? Do you think they're gonna be like in the convention center next year? Or there's several things in the works right now.
SPEAKER_03I'm the vice chair for 2026. You're the vice chair? I'm the vice chair, yeah. Yeah. So uh you're the deputy prime minister. Yeah, I am the deputy prime minister. The prime minister is actually on our podcast as well. He's our movie reviewer, Chitaro. So excellent. Um, but uh yeah, there are several things in the works right now. We don't have a contract yet. Um, but um hopefully by the time this airs, we will have a contract and we will have a venue and we will have a date and we will have prices because all of that is up in the air since we don't have a signed contract yet.
SPEAKER_02Can we get exclusive can we get a can we get a podcast exclusive really quick? And you can just maybe tell me like what venue you can consider. No, you can't tell me. I can't tell you anything.
SPEAKER_01No, no, you can't tell me. I'm sorry. No podcast exclusive.
SPEAKER_04No, no, no, no. I I was talking to Ronnie, you know, what was it, a few weeks ago or something. We happen to be talking about Landy, and I was saying how great it is. And it and it's it's a very, very special con to me. So um, but yeah, it's grown a lot. And um it's uh it's a it's a good con. It's a good con.
SPEAKER_03Well then you should you should totally make a plan to attend, Ronnie. I mean, you know, it's it's gonna be great, it's gonna be wonderful.
SPEAKER_01So well, you know, if it's a if it's are we uh has it always been in May?
SPEAKER_03It always has been in May, and it will be in May again this year as well. This year? 27 2027, it will be in May, yes.
SPEAKER_04And and the vice chair is telling you to go to um Fernandez, so you kinda have to.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, gosh, you twist my arm. You're gonna make it worth my while?
SPEAKER_03Sure. Sure. We still haven't picked a guest of honor, so you don't know. You know, so oh I mean, okay. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02That was easy. That was really that was that was very easy. Well done.
SPEAKER_03So I have not picked you as the guest of honor. So that's not my job. That's the chairman's job.
SPEAKER_04All you furs out there, if you want to be a guest of honor, just come on our uh podcast and we'll negotiate.
SPEAKER_02That's all you have to do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Um, I would no no I'm I'm I I would be interested. I would be interested in definitely coming just because just because like it's it would it would be really nice to support another PW con. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah and like you know, there's In N Out Burger too, so like come on.
SPEAKER_04And you yeah, it's it'd be nice to support In N Out Burger. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and and voodoo donuts. Voodoo Donuts, yeah, absolutely. And salt and salt and straw. Salt and straw. Wow. What is the salt and straw?
SPEAKER_03You've never what?
SPEAKER_02You've never I have never even heard of what you don't know of salt and straw? What? I don't think so.
SPEAKER_03Well, Tabin, I guess uh when you're up in Portland the next time, you'll have to make sure that your hubby takes you to Salt and Straw. Okay, Tabin, it's the second best ice cream of all time.
SPEAKER_02Okay, it's the second best. What's the second best? Molly Moons.
SPEAKER_04I haven't heard of that either.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well, okay, there's a there there is a salt and straw and the Molly Moons all over King County. Yes. All over the Seattle area. There's there's tons of them. Salt and straw started got started in Portland, actually. Okay. Yep.
SPEAKER_04Interesting.
SPEAKER_03They they feature unique flavors of ice cream. Um one of the ones that I tried when I was there once was uh fresh cut grass. That's crazy. And it tasted just like fresh cut grass with sugar.
SPEAKER_04Because they're used to eating that and everything.
SPEAKER_01So I was gonna say, how would they even know what that tastes like?
SPEAKER_03Because somebody had to eat, I asked them. They somebody had to eat fresh cut grass in order to make the make sure the taste get that way. So I see. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_04And since it's an ice cream, it's very icy, like you just said, I see. I just made a bad joke. That didn't work. Okay.
SPEAKER_03So then what cons are you attending in 2027, besides Ferlandia?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. Uh for sure, and for sure, NFC, AC, and yeah, if I can, if I can swing those, because I like to I really uh I really have come so over the years, in my especially at now at my age, be careful what you say next.
SPEAKER_03Be careful, very, very careful.
SPEAKER_02Uh not now that you're 22 years old, right? Right, yeah. Oh my god. Oh yes, of course, of course. Thank you very much. Yeah. I don't I don't feel I don't feel 22. I call myself the king. I in my in my in my in my bio, I um I uh I have king of stamina because of my of the way I dance and because I don't uh because I just have so much stamina as a dancer. It's just a it's just a title that I that I have uh like that I I came up with just because I thought it'd be kind of fun. Uh and then my first time at EF for the dance competition the guy who was hosting who's a friend of mine, he I didn't expect him to do this, but he actually announced to me as the king of stamina. And back in backstage I'm like, what the hell? What the fuck did he just say? It's the funniest thing. I never thought they'd do that. And then every European con, like, they all just ru have just started running with them. Of course. Yes. I'm just like, okay, once the moniker is there, it sticks. Yeah. I'm just like, okay then, well, I guess. I guess we're gonna just I guess I guess that's a thing. Um but no and now nowadays I've reached a point where like the my peak was is 2023 where I did eight cons. Wow and then and then one festival it was the uh ABGT Weekend Air festival, so nine events I was here. That was that was the gorge here in Washington. So nine events grow I've lessened that steadily to just now have after all the years of doing cons that I've been doing, I would rather do the cons that I truly love rather than cons. Well, not just everything, but just rather than doing cons of out of like a quote unquote social obligation. Sure. Because I'll be honest, I don't love FC. I've actually never loved that con. I haven't loved I haven't loved that con since they moved into the convention center. Because my first con actually was FC 2011 and the hotel, the hotel down the street, it used to be called the Fairmont, now it's called the Cygnia. Um I heard about it at Fairmont. Yeah, that you should go next time you go to FC, go check out check out that hotel. It's a phenomenal hotel. That's one of the best hotels I've ever been in. But like ever since they remodeled it and the Hilton now owns that hotel and they rebranded it as the Cygnia, they've completely remodeled it and it looks completely different inside. But like my first con experience in that hotel was one of the most profound, life-changing experiences I've ever had.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02And I was very upset when they moved down to the convention center the very next year. Yeah. And to me, the con has never really been the same, but I get why they had they moved, they had to expand.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, you did you know you grow, you grow, you have to move. There's just you have to. You grow. You have to. Exactly. You grow. I mean, I have to say uh FC 2017 was my very first fur con. And wow. Um, so that was and it was at the convention center, and I I enjoyed it because I got to see all the magic to begin with. That was my first, that was my first exposure, you know. So I I don't have any experience other than where it is now.
SPEAKER_02It is and that's totally fair, that's totally fair. I mean, I and I I appreciate that perspective as well, because it's but the this perspective is just really unique to me because I don't I don't love FC, I don't love that venue, even though like I have nostalgia for being for going to FC because I'm from the Bay Area. Right. So specifically from the East Bay, so like I always have lots of nostalgia when I go there. Sure. And I always I have tons of friends who go, and it's you know it's a pretty decent time, but I don't love I don't love that convincing. I don't love those, I don't love the the Hilton or the Marriott.
SPEAKER_03I prefer the Marriott over the Hilton. I mean we've we've stayed in both, Tabe and I have stayed in both the Hilton and the Marriott. And we both have the Marriott interest.
SPEAKER_02And I don't I don't love FWA. I have mixed feelings about MFF. AC I truly love. BLFC I quite like a lot.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Even though it's a weekday con now?
SPEAKER_02Well, it won't be next year. You saw the announcement? They're they moved it back to the weekend. Oh, did they? I didn't see that. They haven't announced the dates yet, but they are moving back to the weekend. But like, I don't know, even during the week, uh BLFC was still great. I just can't go now because it because it's during the week. And I I figured I, you know, I I went in 2023 for the first time in years, just because like, you know, it had been a long time, and I was like, you know, let's go back to BLFC, let's go experience it once again, let's see what it's like during the week. And it was it was quite different. Yeah. But that's where I met Maushi. So well that's pretty special.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I BLFC used to be like one of my favorite cons. Um, I haven't been for a while. You mentioned you you've gone to eight cons one year. That's uh the most so there's a few years in a row I went to six, a few years in a row. The last few years have been, I think, five. But Furlandia this year was my 50th fur con. What? My fur conniversary. My god, oh my god.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04And Forlandia was my first con I ever went to way back in the day. So it was kind of nice to, you know, it it actually I didn't even plan it that way. It just came full circle like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I can't even I don't even I've I'm sure I've done 50 cons. I have to have at this point, but I can't even have to have it. Yeah, you have to. I have well, you know what it's you know, it's funny is I I keep I um I keep a running tally in a Google Doc of all the cons I've DJ'd at. Uh huh. Because sometimes when you apply to DJ at a con, they'll they'll ask in the D in the application what cons have you DJed at? And I'll be like, oh well with my C V.
SPEAKER_01Here's my C V exactly.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Uh so like so I so I have to add, I have to update that periodically. And then just looking at that list, I'm like, God damn, this thing is it's quite expensive. It's quite exhaustive. I don't remember how many cons I've been to to date. I haven't counted. You haven't dated a con yet. I haven't dated it. Well, if I did date a con, it would be EF because I'm in love with EF. I wouldn't I wouldn't marry EF. I wouldn't marry EF. I would marry EF and I don't even have to speak German because everyone there speaks speaks English. Nice. That makes it easier. Makes it easier. So waiting in English. It's really nice, actually, because like sure, like you'll come across you know the odd one, odd one here and there who doesn't speak a whole lot of English, but that's fine because like they'll they'll uh will have like signs on your badge to indicate like what language you speak. Right. Oh or or languages that you speak. Um but by and large, 90% of people there, 99% of people there will speak English. Yeah. So it's pretty nice. And same with NFC. In fact, I would say even more so at NFC, they speak English. Right.
SPEAKER_04NFC, yeah. I've we've actually thought about well, long story short, there are reasons I might end up needing, well, not needing, but going to NFC. Anyway, we've thought about going to NFC. So is that um it's do it. It sounds like you like that con a lot. Is it I mean you're saying do it, so yes, but you like it.
SPEAKER_02It is my third favorite con. Oh, okay. It is it is one so cons I like I said, cons I do now are the ones that I truly love. NFC, AC, and and and EF. Those are my non-negotiables. If I had to just do one, it would be EF. But I really want to do all three, and those are the only three that I like really want to do. Now, like there may be a year where like I like try to do like a different con to like explore a different con. Like, I would like to try Megaplex because I haven't been there in nine years. Oh, and everyone loves Megaplex now since they're in that new hotel, but like it it's always on the same weekend as EF or EF, so I I can't do that. Right. But like but like I would like to do it again. But NFC is truly one of the greatest con experiences I've ever had. I just happen to like EF more because I find that Hamburg is a far more fascinating and remarkable city than Malmo is. Uh okay. Um, I don't really feel like I get like when you get when you get into Hamburg, you feel like, oh my god, this is Germany. When you get into Malmo, you're like, this is definitely a different country, but I don't really feel like this is It's Switzerland. Switzerland? You mean Swedish. Swedish, I mean I don't yeah, Swedish land. That's where it goes.
SPEAKER_04They both start with S. I don't know. Scotsburg Hamb.
SPEAKER_02That's how that's hilarious. That's hilarious. But I don't really feel like you're getting the Swedish experience when you go to Malmo, for example. But like I mean, it's it's a lovely city, sure. And it's NFC is particularly interesting too because like in order to get there, you have to fly into a whole other country. So you fly into Denmark in Copenhagen airport, then you take the train across the bridge into Malmo, and then and then you're in Sweden. It's really kind of funny, actually. And what's great is the train station is like two blocks from the main hotel. So that's cool. Yeah, so it's it's conveniently located, that's for sure. Uh the the the downside of NFC is I think it's gotten gotten maybe too popular. Oh it's the it's it's the goddamn Americans, man.
SPEAKER_03Damn Americans, damn those Americans.
SPEAKER_02Damn those Americans. Uh all the Americans want to go now and keep going. And it con gets crowded because it's not it's not in a convention center, it's in a it's in a hotel. And it's my f it's my favorite hotel now. It is that is the Clarion is now my favorite hotel hotel. But it gets it gets very crowded very easily because like it's just so many people who just want to go.
SPEAKER_04So it's not at a convention, like the actual con is in the hotel.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, not at a convention center. Really? Not like e not like not like EF and AC and FC. So it but it must be like a huge hotel, I guess. It's a pretty big hotel, but like I don't think that hotel was designed to hold as many people as NFC has now because this year in particular, they had a lot of so many people going that there is a line to get into the main entrance. Oh yeah. I'd never seen that before.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So do you have what what do you have any projects in the hopper at this point, or are you just kind of chilling? I'll give you a podcast exclusive. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Strong roll, please. I have uh I have written a novel. Oh really? Wow. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, I really like it's done. Uh well, the first draft is done. I'm working on the second draft right now. Okay, cool, cool. And I um I wrote this in 2024 and I've been trying like hell to get the second draft done, but like I have to say, writing a novel is probably the most difficult thing I've ever done. Really? Oh yeah. Oh yeah, by far. It is it it is that is quite an arduous task. It was a very fun journey and adventure, but it is not easy by any means. And I'm working on the second draft of that. Once I send that to my to my beta readers and my editor, I mean, who knows what'll what'll come come from that. You have an editor. I have an editor. I have like a couple editors, but um but uh we'll see if it ends up getting published. Uh and while I was actually taking a break from the from the first draft, I wrote like a second novel. Um but that that that one's not done though. Yeah. So that the first draft is not even complete for that one.
SPEAKER_03So is this a furry-based novel or well, of course. Yes, sir. Oh well, I mean it could have been something else. You don't know.
SPEAKER_02I no, I I I would I I'm I'm deeply in the furry realm. I'm like, I'm very I'm I'm I'm I'm in too deep. I can't I can't escape it now.
SPEAKER_04Too much fluff, too much fluff. So what is the um the book about?
SPEAKER_02It is about a photographer on the verge of graduating college, but a romantic encounter with a stranger at a bathhouse threatens to turn his entire world upside down. And I'll just leave it at that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and you just read the back cover uh synopsis to us, didn't it?
SPEAKER_01Well, I just I just I mean it sounded like it.
SPEAKER_02I came up with an idea that I thought would be really, really fun to explore with a with a twist. I because I like I like twists and uh like lime and the and the twist Yes and the twist of that novel, you know, is the person who he who he has this who our main character has this romantic encounter with, that's that's why his entire world unravels after that. So it's just it's it's really it's really fun, spicy stuff that I really wanted to explore, and I'm like, this is really fun. Nice.
SPEAKER_04So I'm glad you had it had and still having a good time with it. So that's that's what you want to do. So you want to have fun with it.
SPEAKER_02And th there are border collies in the novel.
SPEAKER_04Well, I do hope so.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'm definitely gonna have to check out that book. And what is the title of this book for all of our fur listeners out there?
SPEAKER_02It's called Aftershock. Aftershock by Ronnie Callan. That's the working title, anyway. The the title might change.
SPEAKER_03Of course, working titles always get revamped at some point. When your publisher says, We like your title, but we'd really like to call it this. And you go, um What button is what I titled it, and they go, Well, do you want to make money or not?
SPEAKER_04What's really bad is when instead they say, We like your title, but we don't like the book. So, like, could you change the book? Right.
SPEAKER_02You don't you don't want to I hope I hope I don't run into that situation. Oh my god. It'd be easier to change the title.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So what have you got for social media, etc., etc, etc. How can our listeners find more of Ronnie Callen?
SPEAKER_02I am Ronnie Callan uh R A-H-N-E-K-A-L-L-O-N on both Twitter and Blue Sky. And Instagram. I don't really use Instagram though. But like mainly Blue Sky and Twitter. I'm actually more active on Blue Sky nowadays, but like I use both. Okay.
SPEAKER_03All right. Yeah. Are you gonna get on the new Twitter when it opens up when it's started? Or it started just this week. So there's a new one. What, what, what? This is new. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um this is news to me. A different company purchased the name Twitter.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_03And uh because he let it lapse, and so now they've got uh a new a new Twitter, and it's even got a bird, and it's the same color scheme and everything.
SPEAKER_04Holy this is gonna be so confusing because you know everyone's still calling X Twitter. No one calls it X. It is!
SPEAKER_02Oh my god! Yep, yep. I gotta I gotta see this now.
SPEAKER_04This is good to know. I think if I've learned anything today, this is might be the most important thing.
SPEAKER_03All right, so we know there's a new Twitter. There's a new Twitter. All right. So all right.
SPEAKER_04So so all you furs out there, make sure you check out Ronnie's things. Um go back and listen to season one, episode 29, when we had him on before, and he talked more about his his dancing and um what got him into dancing, and he gave some great dancing advice for furs that are trying to get into it. And if you haven't already gathered, he is obviously a really great dancer and really knows lots of things. Really a great guy. So make sure to check out that episode, check out all on social media, um, check out the new um you heard it here first novel that's coming out, and check check him out and stuff. And um, yeah, he's good stuff. He's good stuff.
SPEAKER_03Oh, thank you, Tabin. You're such a sweet dog.
SPEAKER_01I do what I can do.
SPEAKER_03He is March Sneedy, he is. Well, thank you for coming on the show. Uh, it's a lot longer than I thought we were going to take, so this is going to be an exclusive, but we're gonna we're gonna package this as a focus on episode instead of part of our regular.
SPEAKER_04Sometimes we cram an interview into one of our episodes, but you you're just so much fun to talk to that um we're just gonna make you uh your own episode. Yeah, gosh, I'm so honored.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. You're quite welcome. You're welcome. And I hope you can come back on the show again. And I hope we can see you at a con sometime in the future. And yes, and yes.
SPEAKER_04And tell Mr. Noodles to um to say hi to, and we maybe we can all get together. That'd be fun. That'd be fun.
SPEAKER_02I'm I'm literally gonna message him right now. Nice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, and if he's if he's down for it, we can totally do a uh uh a chat with the Ronnies uh episode. Yeah. That'd be awesome. Wow, yeah, chat with the Ronnies. Yeah, chat with the Ronnies. That'd be fun. Between two Ronnies, as it were.
SPEAKER_04Whoa! That's between two Ronnies. That's perfect. The dancers, the fluff, the wonderful nits or something like that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, again, thanks for coming on our show. Is there anything else you want to say to our listeners before we end this? Have a good one. Have a good time, everybody.
SPEAKER_02Stay safe. Keep having a good time, and uh have a good have a good weekend. When the weekend comes. I hope you guys have a good rest of your year. I hope so too. That would be great.
