:00 Opening and Welcome
SPEAKER_07Hey, you know, I went mushroom hunting this last weekend. It's a story with a moral at the end. Um Hey, what do you call a sheep that can sing and dance? Lady Baba, of course. You know, with all these dad jokes, I have them all kept in a daddy base. That was dumb. I was I ordered hay off of Amazon for my neighbor's horse, but two days later they asked for the feedback. As I was traveling to the coast this past weekend, I passed a gun shop called T-Rex and Ammo. I realized it was a small arms dealer.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah. So Ziggy and I were watching YouTube today at uh a cooking channel called uh Tasting History with Max Miller. Yeah, he used to be Prince Charming at Disneyland. Okay, so yeah. That's how cute he is. He's very gay. Super gay. Arcular Charmings? Yes. Uh so today he was doing potted meat. Uh the show we watched, which is uh he was making potted meat from scratch, like the way they used to do back in the old days. So in order to make potted meat, you have to put it in a mortar and pestle. And you don't you don't grind it like you would, like with spices. You have to pound it. And this is where the the term feeding your meat comes from, because when you're pounding it, it looks very much like you're pounding it.
SPEAKER_07Aha, I see. Alright, well, enough of this nonsense. Let's get to the regular sense. Well, greetings and Moobark Fluff to all the creatures in the Potterverse. I am Barely, and you are listening to Barely Percasting featuring Tabin. Joining me in the studio is Chitaro Rain TikTok and Ziggy. How are all of you? I'm spriting, yes. And uh Tabin is with us as well. Tabin, are you fresh and ready to go today? And where were you? Why don't you tell our listeners where you were?
SPEAKER_03Um So your first question was are you ready?
SPEAKER_07Are you fresh and ready to go?
SPEAKER_03Yes. And I don't know where I was. I don't know. Okay, we're lost. Apparently. Which means I really don't know where I was.
SPEAKER_07No, because we had to record later today because you were somewhere and you were gonna be here on time.
SPEAKER_03Where were you? Oh, that's so adorable. No, it's it's a totally different how is it referred to over.
SPEAKER_07Apparently better than me, because apparently my brain is all frazzled, and I thought you were somewhere where apparently you weren't.
SPEAKER_03No, it's true, but I do have to say time for Jesse for a walk. How you should do about English. And um, well, I guess it actually doesn't uh relate to that. But um so I was earlier today talking to my friend, and he was telling me a story about how his husband dropped a basket of clothes that he had just ironed, and all I could say is, and you watched it all unfold. Maybe it's good that I w should have gone somewhere and not have been here too much.
SPEAKER_07Maybe. Maybe who knows? Uh do we have any shout-outs, David?
SPEAKER_03Not that I know of. If you have listened to every single episode, we have some furs that have actually listened to um every single episode from beginning to end, not just parts of it. Um we've given them shout outs before, but we're reserving this um little segment to give a shout out to any viewers that have listened to every single episode, um beginning to end. Um or if you're a new fur that or not even a new fur, but just a new listener to our podcast, we'd like to give you a shout-out to. So if you have done either of those things, um let us know in the chat or email or what or all the things that early will mention at the end of the show, which you'll be listening to since you're gonna be listening to every episode all the way through now. Um make sure to do so and we'll give you a shout-out. Well, that was okay.
SPEAKER_07Well
:19 Things Revisited: Math
SPEAKER_07we're gonna do a little things revisited because on your math puzzle last episode, Tatum, I instinctively answered that the problem was not doable, and it turns out I was correct. However, while I was editing the episode, I realized that my underlying understanding of the problem was flawed. Oh, so you got it right for a different reason. I did. I thought when you said to take the opposite corners off, I thought you meant the dominoes, not the square of the board. Okay. So my initial ponderance was that there was no way the dominoes could cover all the squares well because there was two less dominoes.
SPEAKER_03It stands to reason. It stands for reason. Right.
SPEAKER_06I kind of thought the same thing, uh, so you're not alone.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_09Was completely connected. Okay. Well, I was not confused. I think I understand it, but I did prove that it I I I actually drew it out and you cannot do it.
SPEAKER_07Okay. Alright. And at the end of the segment, you mentioned math recipes. Now, I had never heard of math recipes. Is that a real term or was that just a tabinism?
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, so it it it wasn't, I don't think I said math recipes. I think recipes for doing the math, and there's a difference. Well, I mean, I don't think there's math. Well, in any case, what I was referring to is a lot of people when they try and solve math problems, they try and just follow a recipe, like follow steps for it. This is how you do it. But in general, there is no recipe for doing math. There, like, there's no general this is exactly how you solve this problem. You do this step, this step, this step. Anyway, that's what I mean meant by recipe.
SPEAKER_06So there are no math cookies, is what I'm hearing.
SPEAKER_03Not unless you do math out of fur meat. But there is a lot of things.
SPEAKER_05You know, I think the X's would hurt your teeth. Probably.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's why none of the cookies go away. The the ones that actually do eat the cookies are not the smart ones because they have to go to the dentist afterwards because they have no more teeth. I don't even know what I'm talking about. So again, maybe I should have not come on to this episode. If any fur is still out there listening, we love you so much. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_08And compared to there are some some cookbooks. Uh believe it or not, there are some cookbooks for Java for JavaScript for Ruby with uh when you need to do a procedure that is gonna be done many times. You can just go to the book and see how it's done. So you don't lose time.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Alright, well, there you go. I I stand corrected. I had never heard that term when it came to math, so awesome. Great. We learn something new every day. We do, we
:04 Media
SPEAKER_07do. We're gonna switch things up a little bit for this episode, and we're gonna get to the media right now.
unknownMedia!
SPEAKER_03You all did it, you were all good.
SPEAKER_07Okay, yes, we all took our headphones off. Exactly.
SPEAKER_06After seven years, we've learned we're Pub Lobby.
SPEAKER_03Out there that don't know, so I do that thing, and for a long time, like I mean, it hurts their ears. And you might remember several episodes ago, one of the episodes was called Our Ears Are Safe, and it's because that was an episode I was not on, and that's why their ears were safe. So now you know the reason. And so, what happened just now when I did that, they all remembered to take their headphones off, and they all still have their hearings. The show can go on, done, dun, done.
SPEAKER_06Wow, how exciting for all of us, yes. Yeah, because half of half of the the episode after after you you forget to do that sounds like this. For us.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes. I'm glad it doesn't sound like that for you now.
SPEAKER_07Right, no. So I've been continuing the lanterns on HBO, uh, and I've been silo and Strange New Worlds and Rick and Morty.
SPEAKER_06And I've a question about lanterns, though. Okay, some some people in the reviews I've been reading were like saying it's very, very slow the first few episodes. Oh god, yes. Okay, all right. Yeah, all right, so you just gotta wait through it to get to the good stuff, huh?
SPEAKER_07I I guess, yeah. Okay. So watching back episodes of Fringe, uh, I started re-watching the Orville, which I forgot how well done that was. Uh super well done. It's super well done, and I'm so sad that Seth effed it up and not doing it anymore. And that's it. And yeah, um, because Chitaro mentioned it last episode, I started Chainsmoker Cat, and you're correct. It's very um odd.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. So there's two series on Netflix. One is called The Hawk, and one is called Tires, and I've started both of those this last weekend. Uh The Hawk features Will Farrell as a washed-up pro golfer trying to make a comeback. Oh it's it's actually pretty good, I have to say. I um I'm not a complete Will Farrell. I've I've I like some of his stuff, and I don't like some of his stuff. This is some one of his work that is pretty good, actually.
SPEAKER_06Uh he's permanent never uh he's never like in the middle. It's either I like a movie he's in or I absolutely hate it because he's just annoying as hell. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, and this is a this is a series, so there's a number of episodes. So it's uh it's not a it's not a movie, yeah. Uh so is tires. Those are series, those are Netflix series. I guess Netflix is taking on more series of their own. Uh and very series about it.
SPEAKER_06When I read that on there, barely I uh Spider and Warren.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I I I thought the Hawk and Tires was a strange movie, and when I tried to look it up on IMDB, you told me I was weird.
SPEAKER_06So I just want you to know that.
SPEAKER_07Well, tires is kind of like a modern family show, but without the cutaways.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, I guess I I've seen all of tires. I I agree. It's um yeah, I liked it.
SPEAKER_07Um I could say the the videography style is unique. Uh you get the impression it's a reality show, but then it really isn't. Um so it's kind of a mashup of handhelds and set cameras and stuff like that. So yeah, it's it's it's kind of different, you know. The first episode you kind of think, oh, this is one of those reality shows where they're gonna do the cutaways, like the office. It's not but but it's not. They don't.
SPEAKER_03But um but it was pretty good. I I I think it's good checking it out. Do you think it would be good for someone to just check out if they're just looking for something?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, it's a great show to have on in the background. Um so what's the premise? It's a tire shop.
SPEAKER_06It's a tire shop, that's what I mean. Oh, okay. Like for automobiles or for bicycles? For automobiles. I would probably find it funny. I would not find it funny since I worked in an automotive shop in my last job.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. I mean, and they I mean, it's a it's a mechanic shop, but they sell tires mostly. I'm gonna look into that. Called Valley Forge Automotive and something like that. So it's yeah, you might like it. Yeah. Okay, cool. Chitaro, what about you guys?
SPEAKER_09Well, Pink Lemonade and I have been continuing on the series called Heroes. Um, we're in the last season. And it it's really getting ready for a big, gigantic series finale. Is it gigantic? Uh maybe.
SPEAKER_08That's what they indicated.
SPEAKER_09That is what they indicated. Yeah, real big series ending. Yeah, yeah. So I'm looking forward to seeing what ends up happening in that. Something gigantic. It is part of it is in the big apple, so who knows? A gigantic one. Right, gigantic apple. Just for you, Tabin, and Bambi will be eating it just for you. Oh, a gigantic apple.
SPEAKER_06Um you get one per season, Chitaro. Only one per season. That's it.
SPEAKER_03That was Chitaro's fault. You can't blame me for that. I'm so sorry. Anyway.
SPEAKER_09Moving along, we we went camping this past weekend, and one of the things we ended up doing was we watched a movie. So, what did we end up watching? I know a few of you are gonna laugh, and some of the audience will too, because I watched Ready Player One. Oh, you hadn't seen it? Yeah, yeah. Ah, okay. I have, but it was so long ago I forgot about most of it. Yeah. So, so I I will say it is a little bit disappointing. Uh, the movie is, because if you read the book, the movie is nothing like the book.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I have the book and I haven't I have yet to read it. Uh I watched the movie first, so uh I like the movie.
SPEAKER_09You're gonna be I don't know you're gonna be disappointed because the movie does not follow the book at all. I've been reading the book, I'm about a third of the way through the book, and it is awesome and amazing, and it throws you back to the 80s, because trust me, I'm gonna have to start reading that next then. Yeah, and and it was amazingly amazing. Um and so um but like I said, all of the characters are there, and the style of the movie does follow some of the book, but if you're looking to see comparisons of the movie to the book, you will not see a lot of it. Although I will say it was directed by Steven Spielberg, and I thought it was decent. But there's this race that happens at the beginning of the movie that was epic, only because you get all these cars racing off, and and as they're bouncing into things or getting stepped on by a T-Rex, they turn into coins and um and they just kind of go poof, and um, but there's also a King Kong at the end that's trying to keep people from actually going to the finish line, but none of that is in the book.
SPEAKER_06And Percival, Percival, of course, has the best car in well, the second best car in the race. He has the DeLorean from Back to the Future. And somebody else. Which one did you say was Oh yeah, yeah, the Knight Rider.
SPEAKER_09There was also Bonda Chill. I mean, there was somebody, there was somebody who had a um a Batmobile, the original Batmobile, and I think also Mad Max's car from the first movie was in there as well. Yeah, absolutely. So so trust me, it was a decent movie, and if I was rating it on my chirp scale, I would give it a four chirps.
SPEAKER_03But did they have the was one of the automobiles the bed from Bed Knobs and Broomsticks?
SPEAKER_06That would have been no, sadly, no. That would have been a good car, though. For that raise. Yeah, yeah, right.
SPEAKER_09But but yeah, so like I said, it it was a good movie, and the only reason I watched it is because of, well, you'll find out later for Landia, but that's another story.
SPEAKER_03So I'll also make sure to stay tuned and find out what that was all about. Right?
SPEAKER_09So we also watched a movie from 2021 called The Devil Below. It's a horror movie that's based on a real life story that happened in 1962 in Pennsylvania. Um it was about a mining mining fire that got out of hand. But this movie has these creatures. Yeah, these move well, this is in Pennsylvania Pennsylvania. Uh well, the movie is done in the Appalachians, um, so it's not in Pennsylvania.
SPEAKER_03Was it the gigantic apple action site? Uh not that apple.
SPEAKER_09So it had these creatures in it.
SPEAKER_06Taven, down.
SPEAKER_09Down, Tabin. Down. Get the squirt bottle. Um anyway, it had these creatures in it that um that if you weren't paying attention and you made too much noise, they would come grab you and rip you down into the thing, and and then they would like feed you into these this other creature. It was kind of a dark movie, and by dark I don't mean that it was like dark. I mean that it was dark because of the lighting. Um the lighting it had a lot of horrible lighting that you could hardly see what was.
SPEAKER_06Was it as bad as As Above So Below? Or as below so above, whatever. The the I the movie about the stories about that.
SPEAKER_09But I did not see it myself, but it was a movie, but it was so hard to see things on screen. Yeah, yeah. I I thought it was I it's worth watching, it really is. But unfortunately, like I said, there are certain scenes where you're really looking and going, Oh, why I want to see what's going on, and it's like, oh my god, it's so dark. I wish somebody would just shine a flashlight over there.
SPEAKER_06But anyway. They couldn't afford more than one flashlight for the second. And that's almost true, I think.
SPEAKER_07Was this a BBC production?
SPEAKER_06Yes. No, I don't think it's a good idea. It's the audio. The music is so loud you can't hear anything the characters are saying. Oh, okay. All right. Yeah, I've watched movies like that too.
SPEAKER_09But but anyway, I've also been continuing to play on my Xbox Disney Dreamlight Valley, Forza Horizon 6, and Star Trek Online. So that is what I've been media ying ying. Mediaing.
SPEAKER_07Alright, ying. Which I think is a word we made up. Rain, what have you been media ing?
SPEAKER_06We've been mediaing quite a bit, actually. Just last night, we watched Behind the Mask, The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It's a 2006 horror mockumentary about the rise of an upcoming serial killer who wants to be just like the greats, you know, Freddie, Michael, and Jason. Uh because they're real and they're real in this in this universe. So he has a young journalist and her crew uh along to document his rise, you know, because he's just about to start start murdering. Uh yes, yes. Uh it's like I said, because it's it's it's very dark comedy, it's taken all all tongue-in-cheek, and there's like uh there's also some really great uh horror star, horror movie, uh great uh starring, guest starring in this. Uh Robert England, uh, you know, who is the original Freddie Krugman. Uh and Zelda Rubenstein, uh, Tangia from the Poltergeist series.
SPEAKER_04Oh the medium.
SPEAKER_06The little the little medium. The little medium, yes. The little medium woman, yes. Uh small medium.
SPEAKER_07She has yes, she has a great one. She's wanted by the police, but she's at large now.
SPEAKER_06Yes. But yeah, it's it's fantastic. The movie is is really just done well. There's a twist in it that I kind of saw coming early on, like about halfway through the movie, but I was still not sure that I was right until the very end. So it's really a good movie. Uh I don't know how I missed it when it came out. Where's the streaming? Yarr. Yarr. Yar streaming. But it should be streaming, it should be streaming everywhere else too. Uh streaming on Yar? Yeah. Uh the the one of the guys who's the uh the mentor of uh Leslie is one of the guys from Walking Dead. So there's a lot of great cameos in it, and and it's uh it it really plays into the final girl theme. Um that's what he's looking for, is the final girl at the end. He wants her to rise, or you know, so that he can obsess about her. It's it's really funny. It's they they take the whole horror trope to a whole new like level. It's really good.
SPEAKER_08And the music wasn't good at the.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Also, really good music uh in the movie. So uh I recommend it highly.
SPEAKER_09Just so you're aware it's streaming on Amazon according to IMDB. Excellent.
SPEAKER_06I knew it would be somewhere because it's it's not that old of a movie, but uh yeah, it's it was actually also many years old. It's normal drink now. It was Zelda's it was Zelda Rubenstein's last movie. So if you're a fan of uh of Tangia, that was the last movie that she was in. Okay. Um uh so yeah.
SPEAKER_08And when she up here in the screen was aww.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was it was a very awe moment because she was she was just her her absolute cute self that she's always been uh in every movie she's been in.
SPEAKER_04Yes, she's cute.
SPEAKER_06And then because Ziggy hadn't seen it, yes, her high voice. Because Ziggy hadn't seen it, we watched uh The House with the Clock and Its Walls, uh, which is uh about a kid whose parents die and he has to move in with his weird uncle, played by Jack Black, and finds out that his uncle and his uncle's friend Florence, played by Kate Blanchette, are actually a warlock and a witch. Yeah, really fun movie. It's not too scary, so Taven, you could watch it and have fun watching it. It's exciting. It has creepy scenes, but the creepy scenes are just like pumpkins and and stuff like that that that that are being that are yeah, you won't have to watch it from underneath the couch. It's it's actually really good.
SPEAKER_09Uh there any are there any arachnids in it?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but not they're not heavily featured in it. There is a snake, a purple snake, snake spear. Oh. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_07Snake is not an arachnid, just for the record. That's true. That is true. You're you're correct there, Barely.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Just in case any of you first were wondering, we do know kind of what we're talking about sometimes.
SPEAKER_06Yes, sometimes. Once in a while. But yeah, great movie. Uh is one of my favorites. I like to watch it back to back with Goosebumps, also starring Jack Black. Uh because they're they're both they're both very fun and they get you in that kind of Jack Black horror y movie vibe.
SPEAKER_03I can't help but but say, like, so are there any arachnids? And it well, you know, there's a giraffe and there's a hyp hippopotamus. So yeah, kinda. Kinda.
SPEAKER_06It doesn't lean heavily into the spiders, but uh, yeah, there's there's a lot of fun in the movie. It's it's a great movie. Go watch it if you haven't seen it. I don't think it did really well at the theaters, but uh I I think it's been doing pretty pretty decent streaming. Um that one should be streaming just about everywhere as well. Yeah, I think it's on Netflix.
SPEAKER_07I think I saw it on Netflix. You might be interested in Netflix.
SPEAKER_06Yes. So I I also kind of got bored and started playing Call of Duty World War II again. Uh I forgot how heavy the series or that this this actual game in the series is, uh, because it is very World War II. Uh you storm the first scene, you're storming the beach of Normandy. So D-Day, yeah, it's it's rough. It's like watching uh Saving Private Ryan the first you know, 20 minutes of saving private Ryan is basically the first 20 minutes of this game. It's rough. Wow. Uh yeah, so it's it's a good game though, uh, and they were fairly historically accurate in it. Um which is is nice. So yeah, I recommend it. Uh great story. The the characters in it are very heroic and likable. Uh I like of most of the Call of Duty games, I think it's probably got the best story and the best characters in it. Because it's like not just one character. You're there's a whole, you know, the whole squadron of uh these guys are just amazing guys. Uh you know, the best of the best.
SPEAKER_08Okay.
SPEAKER_06Ziggy, how about you?
SPEAKER_08Uh mostly doing Coursera classes, which counts as media. It has videos. Please give me some slack. Yes.
SPEAKER_06He's been working hard.
SPEAKER_08Yes. And of course, for night, the new season. Uh I attended the uh finale of the season OG with the big mech and the kaiju and the fighting and the sword and the ug and the boom and and all that other stuff. And also trying to compete on the tournament, not doing so well. Sadly, just got 16 points out of 300 and something. So yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_06It's really rough. This new season, like, he'll he's been like having a heck of a time on the in the uh tournaments.
SPEAKER_07Well, I wish you luck in your endeavors and your uh 149?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_07Endeavors in tortillas. You're 4019. And uh it's like, what do they call those? They're not journeys. They're not missions, quests, right? Quests, quests.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Quest for tortillas. All back to Ready Player One. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah, it is. I I got to watch the the intro to this season, and it is fun. It's uh Sonic, Mega Man, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um, and uh Crash Bandicoot.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, oh Crash Bandicoot is all right! I like Crash, yeah. Uh everybody likes Crash, he's cute. He's uh dumb as a rock, but yeah. Dumb as a rock, but he's cute. Yep. TikTok, how about you? What have you been up to on the media?
SPEAKER_05Well, we got Jeopardy Masters. You know, man, the clues are tough.
SPEAKER_07Really?
SPEAKER_05You know, yeah. No, during the regular season, I can ch you know get a decent about right, but with masters, it's more like one or two at most. Wow.
SPEAKER_06It's like Barely and I doing uh the trivial pursuit on three doo who on three doo who knows. James is quest is questioning us with with the Doctor Who trivial pursuit set, and we're doing so bad. So bad. So bad. So so bad.
SPEAKER_03So, all you furs, if you want to um hear Rain and Barry just fail, like Mr. We all the time, make sure to go listen to that podcast. Three days.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, last two episodes are the ones where we just totally lose it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, it's very weird to me as an un-American person the way you answer in Jupiter. What's uh the beatle who is John Doe, and the way you answer the question on that show is weird to me.
SPEAKER_06It's weird to Americans too. Yes.
SPEAKER_03That's right. Zugi, so you you don't even had you ever seen Jeopardy before?
SPEAKER_08Uh I've seen on the on the YouTube, uh not on the uh on the Teleaza Regular show. Not on the regular show. So it's not a lot of people. Yeah, it's not really popular down here.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, uh the the premise is it's it's a reverse trivia show. You get the answer and you have to give them the question. So that's what the that's the premise of Jet.
SPEAKER_03And that's the answer. It's the question. It's like what?
SPEAKER_07Yeah, what is Jimmy? Yes, yes. Exactly. What is Jet?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, a very crazy show that I don't understand how it works.
SPEAKER_07Very true.
SPEAKER_05Anyway, we've uh derailed you, but go ahead. Sorry. Yeah, that's alright. Yep, it's the show. Um I forgot to mention last time we watched Life Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness. Yeah. Yeah, some funny stuff here and there. As an aside, the last episode with President Obama when he's complaining about Larry taking a sip from his glass and calling him old lips. That was completely ad-lipped. Oh, nice. He's like, Yeah, I don't want your old lips on it. Old lips. Old lips, you know.
SPEAKER_07I you know, I I I haven't watched it past, I think, episode three because I get tired of him yelling at all of his lines all of the time.
SPEAKER_05It's kind of the same joke over and over.
SPEAKER_07Over and over and over again. Kind of like this podcast. Yeah, nobody includes me. I get I get left out. I'm the dummy. Blah blah blah. Yellow yellow yell. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like every now and then it'll be it'll be funny, but yeah. Yeah. But uh, let's see. Also binged animal control over the past couple weeks. Oh yes.
SPEAKER_03What'd you think of that? I've seen that. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05So season one takes a bit to get going. They're kind of finding their legs, as it were. Two is really hilarious. Um that's also the one with the furry party.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh that I died, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and some of the furries return in the season finale for a co-worker surprise party.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, nice.
SPEAKER_05So cool.
SPEAKER_06So would you say it's kind of like Reno 911 for Apple Control? Yeah, I never got it.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, yeah. Yeah. Uh let's see. Three seem to be kind of mean, at least to me.
SPEAKER_09Season four. They do a lot of pranks.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's just like, okay, we're I'm kind of done with the pranks. Season four was a bit more lighthearted, and I'm really not sure where they're going with season five.
SPEAKER_03I mean, look forward to it though. I'm looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Well, this sounds this sounds a lot like Reno 911 because like there are spots in it where they're just like constantly pranking each other, and the pranks are like incredibly mean in some of Reno 911.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, there is the uh the the drunk pullover where he's like you know, reads the whole alphabet backwards, and yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it makes it makes him dance uh you know Flossi, Flossi, Flossi. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Crispy checking. So next up we have Tabin.
SPEAKER_03Hello, hi. Oh, thanks. Um, well I I guess I'll start off with since Mike's already talked about it. Um, I also we also started watching The Hawk. I do really actually like it. So kind of hinted at this that and and by the way, for any first that don't know, this is on Netflix. It's a 2026 show, so it's really really new, with of course it's barely sale Will Farrell, but it also is Molly Shannon and Fontaine Feinster, which is very cool. Yeah, Fontaine's is awesome, and and she also plays I mean, it only comes out like in one tiny tiny little sentence in one of the episodes that she she's a lesbian in that in the street.
SPEAKER_06It's actually fortune. It's actually fortune. Fortune themester Fontaine.
SPEAKER_03I meant fortune, hi!
SPEAKER_06Like that sounds that sounds familiar, but then I'm like, my brain stopped stopped and ground to a halt for a second.
SPEAKER_03Thank you. Yeah, so all you first I meant fortune themster, not not for whatever. Anyway, so yeah, Will Farrell actually uh so Berly and and people were talking about um uh Will Farrell and and um sometimes I like him, sometimes I don't. I pretty much have always liked Will Will Farrell. I think he's actually a pretty good actor, and I think you you can actually see that in this show, that he's actually does a pretty good job acting, I think. And I have here just because in my notes, um, so as Barley mentioned, um he plays an ex-PGA golfer and he's trying to get back into peach into the into the big leagues and everything, basically. Fontaine. I said right this time, Fontaine. Um thank you, Caddy.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's what he's I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_09Just remember treasure chest, Tabin. I see. Just remember a treasure chest.
SPEAKER_03Treasure chest, fortune.
SPEAKER_09She's a treasure.
SPEAKER_03She is a treasure. I was correct when I said that I was wrong. No, I didn't. Okay. Fortune. My cow. Yes. So um, anyway, I think Barely also mentioned it has pr uh it's mixed review. So on IMDB, it only is 6.4 out of 10, 32% on her on tomatoes, but I think it's pretty good. And the theme song song is awesome. It just goes kind of you know how South Park has the their singing style and like the yeah, um boo-doo doo doo-doo. Yeah, it's kind of the same style in here, and the theme song goes, They call me Hawk, a golfer, the greatest golfer in the world, and that's the theme song. Oh lord. It's kind of worth watching just for the theme song, actually. Just for the theme song, yes. Um, yeah, so it's like 10 seconds worth. Exactly. It's really 10 seconds. We have still a few episodes left to watch in it. Um I'm looking forward to see how it turns out. Uh we also, I mentioned before watching a show called Dark Winds. Does any fur remember Dark Winds? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And has anyone seen Dark Winds? Nope, not yet. Okay, so it's really good. So for any of you furs out there that are just listening for the first time or have don't know anything about it, it's about a Navajo Navajo lieutenant, not a Fontaine lieutenant, but a Navajo lieutenant. That's a call back to the fort. Okay. Um Navajo Lieutenant Um that's solving some police crimes in in Arizona, in fact. And and then it sounds like a standard type of show when I say it like that. Um, I mean there's drama in it and and things like that, and it is kind of in a way, kind of a some people might say trite, but it the way they go about it, the acting's really great, the the cinematography is actually pretty great out in the desert and everything like that. But uh the storyline is actually really good, and the show has actually won 11 awards and 28 nominations. So can't be that bad. So we finished watching season four, which is the current season that actually ended just a few months ago. And they left it open for another season. I'm really hoping they do. I I really want to see what happens. It's not a major typehanger, but it's definitely they could go some places with that. So if you haven't seen Dark Winds, I really recommend checking it out. It's a pretty good show, I think. And that's pretty much we have been fortunate on media in this week. Awesome.
SPEAKER_07All right. You know, you mentioned IMDB and you know those places and Rotten Tomatoes. I don't check that out until after I'm done watching a show because I want to form my own opinion. Because if I read it ahead of time, then I want then I know, you know, because then you want you see spoilers and all sorts of stuff when you go on to the ratings to be a little bit better.
SPEAKER_03All you oh, go ahead. Keep talking.
SPEAKER_06I find yeah, IMDB's ratings to be a little bit like more realistic than Rotten Tomatoes for some reason. Rotten Tomatoes seems to overly like criticize movies, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_07Well, but Rotten Tomatoes is the people that watch it. That's where the ratings are. Yeah, but so is IMDB.
SPEAKER_09Well, so IMDB has been around a lot longer. Yeah. Yeah. I've been I've been using for 26 years.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, Rotten Tomatoes has often like really panned great movies. Uh whereas you'll go and and uh IMDB will have them, you know, six or seven out of ten stars, which is so for all you furs out there, I have to interrupt just to say, because this is important, for all you furs that don't know what we just lift at, laughed at, Ziggy did the uh little six-seven thing because Rain said six or seven, and I don't think he meant to do that.
SPEAKER_03And you should see Rain right now. He is palm facing, he is almost crying that he did that. He should have thought ahead of it.
SPEAKER_06It happens like once or twice a day. It's like so oh my gosh. The trauma.
SPEAKER_03And Rain totally just did it and didn't realize what he was doing when he did it. True.
SPEAKER_06But I typically like IMDB ratings a little bit better. They seem to be a little more realistic than than to sum all that up.
SPEAKER_09I will also say that IMDB, there there are a lot of haters out there that that will skew a few things in terms of data for things, but but with the number of people that are on IMDb, the the ratings, as Rain said, they're a little bit more true to how, in my opinion, the movie gets rated. So I use it all the time.
SPEAKER_03I do have I said I am done with media, but I do want to talk slightly about what I'm playing. And so I will say then all you furs go back and ignore what I said about the IMDB and Rotten Rick Tomatoes ratings and wait until you watch it. Then you can go back and listen to us talk about it.
SPEAKER_06So you gotta do the really you shouldn't order you shouldn't like trust those ratings implicitly, anyways. Uh, because uh I mean a lot of times a story may not be for everybody, but it may really speak to you. Yes.
SPEAKER_03And especially if especially if I say what it is, don't believe it. And especially if I just say something, don't believe it. Don't believe it.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of not gonna be.
SPEAKER_09Sorry for interrupting, Kaban, but just so everybody knows, IMDB doesn't only do movies, they also do TV. They also do video games. Okay. So if yeah, so if you search for anything video game-wise, you can actually find out who was doing the voices and all that stuff. Anything with an actor in it. Exactly.
SPEAKER_07And IMDB stands for International Movie Database. There you go. Internet movie database.
SPEAKER_03Internet movie uh Fortune movie database.
SPEAKER_07You're what a fortune. Taven, what games have you been playing?
SPEAKER_03Um, so I haven't been doing much role, Kingdom or Bloom, some Beatsaber Little Gemcraft, which I talked about last time, so been doing a lot of so all you furs that want to hear me talk about um Gemcraft or don't know what it is, uh go to listen to the last episode. I talk a little bit more about it and how awesome it is. Also, I don't know if you remember. A long time ago I talked about playing this game called Armelo. Does any fur remember me talking about that?
SPEAKER_06Uh vaguely.
SPEAKER_03Oh hey, okay. I do.
SPEAKER_09Cool. Yeah. Have you played Armelo? I was gonna check it, I was gonna check it out, but I never got a chance because, well, I got busy with something called Verlandia. Verlandia.
SPEAKER_03Another little teaser. All you furs, wait till the end and you can hear more about what this crazy Verlandia thing is.
SPEAKER_06Speaking of uh cons though, I just got contacted by GOTF to uh to see if I wanted to volunteer for the con this year. Maybe I'm like, I'm in Chile. I it's really a little far for me to be volunteering for a con.
SPEAKER_03So Armelo is um it's an it's it's a I mean you can get on Steam. So it's a I think it that there is a board game version, an actual physical board game version, but you can get on Steam, and it's a nice board game-esque thing. It's anthropomorphic. So there's like a wolf, there's a rabbit, there's a rat, there's there's other nice anthropomorphic, there's like lots of them actually, and it's um it's a strategy game where you have stats and everything, and it's a card game too, and it's really fun, and it's really cool, and like there's a lion the the the king of the whole place is a lion, of course. And it's actually a really cool, nice little anthropomorphic strategy board game with really great graphics. Like the graphics are really awesome, and you know you can get achievements and things like that. So I really recommend all you first checking it out if you like like board game and strategy type things with an anthropomorphic feel to it and really nice graphics. So, anyway, I really wanted to um talk about that briefly, so I'll stop mediaing now. Okay.
SPEAKER_07Wow, woof, that was a journey, alright. We're on a quest through it. We are on a quest.
:04 What Day is Today?
SPEAKER_07So uh what day is today? On the day we're recording, September 8th, it's National Star Trek Day.
SPEAKER_06Because live long and prosper, everyone.
SPEAKER_0760 years ago today, Star Trek, the original series, launched its three-year, five-year mission. Yes, yes, right, yes, because it was only on for three years and they kept saying it's a five-year mission. That was Roddenberry's hoping that it would get to five five seasons, right? Um, yeah, for sure. Uh, and it's also World Ampersand Day, so I hope you used an ampersand today.
SPEAKER_09I used it in every sentence. I will say I've spoken.
SPEAKER_06Harking back to media. I am caught up now on Strange New Worlds, and I did really enjoy the puppet episode.
SPEAKER_07I enjoyed the puppet episode too.
SPEAKER_06It was fantastic, and the one that followed it this week's episode has Trelaine in it, which I love Trelaine.
SPEAKER_07Okay, I haven't seen this week's episode yet. We're watching the episode. It's great. Okay. I loved you too. Okay. Uh, and then on our release date, September 19th, it's a super fun day. It's Tuck Like a Pirate Day, Yarr. Yes. And it's also National Dance Day and National Butterscotch Pudding Day.
SPEAKER_03Oh. Who actually comes up with all the I mean, I don't know. So, you know, I can't eat butterscotch.
SPEAKER_07So if you're listening to this on September 19th, the day we drop it, grab some butterscotch pudding, dance around, and talk like a pirate. I'll talk about it. Would you dance in the butterscotch pudding or out of the butterscotch pudding? I would dance out of it, but there are certain kinks that would uh allow for the butterscotch to be danced in, I suppose, you know.
SPEAKER_03So, um, Skuru, this this is up to you to cover this.
SPEAKER_06I choked on a buttersc I don't know where there's butterscotch uh candy when I was a little kid, and to this day, the taste of butterscotch like makes me anxious. Okay, I can't do butterscotch anymore. I used to love it.
SPEAKER_08It's a national holiday down here on September 19th, it's the day of the army. So there's a big parade. Nice! A lot of armament stuff. It's like the the the Red Square got not already.
SPEAKER_04Something that makes sense.
SPEAKER_08Yes, yes.
:14 Furmations
SPEAKER_07Well, Taven, we've had a little bit of silliness already, so why don't you zen us all out and give us some formations, if you can, because lately it's been getting crazy with your formations as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so no, this will be a good idea. I guess that's actually not helpful. For all you first I don't know. We do this little segment on the show called affirmations, which help you understand and mediate your life and realize how wonderful a person that you are these days. I have these cards called positive vibes, and on each card a little doggy comes out and says something as an affirmation. So here are three affirmations that I will not be doing as a gentleman. So are you first go back and listen to a few episodes ago if you want to hear affirmations and instead of doing it as a gentleman? Instead, there's a nice little corgi that comes out and he says, I embrace serenity in my soul, and joy in my heart. And on this one, a nice little husky says, Adventure stirs my soul and broadens my horizons. It is, and on the back, it talks about adventure day once a month. And an adventure, big or small. It could be visiting a new town, hiking a trail, or trying a new activity. Adventures can stimulate your mind and create memorable experiences. The last one, oh, there's a cute little border collie. Of course, I can't face it.
:04 Confused Taebyn
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. Yeah, I you I wondered okay, no, good for you for hearing that because it is exactly exactly the thing I have. There was something about mushrooms and morals, and I have no idea what. Happened there.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_09I got this one. I got this one. So so when I was reading show notes, I had to explain to my partner Pink Lemonade what a moral mushroom was. Yes. It's a type of mushroom. Type of mushroom.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_07It's really good. And that's all there is to it. That's all I should say. I went on a mushroom hunt. It's a story with a moral at the ending.
SPEAKER_03I like my gigantic thing better. I don't know.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry. Moral mushrooms are small.
SPEAKER_06Tabin likes gigantic things. That's what we're hearing. Oh, I see.
SPEAKER_09I'm so sorry, Tabin.
SPEAKER_03If you okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Um so Titaro must not do good like artistry and crafts because he's so sorry.
SPEAKER_04What? Now you gotta get news fairly.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
:11 Furry News
SPEAKER_07All right.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_07Can we can we get to the news?
SPEAKER_05Yes, please. Okay, please, yeah TikTok save us. Yay, TikTok, yay!
SPEAKER_07Rapid news recording. What's on in the news of the furry world today?
SPEAKER_05So, uh first up, we have Anthro New Mexico making their debut appearance this past weekend of early September in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The fur con was rife with disappointments and evidence of bad management. Oh no. And I I won't comment on this too much, but a glaring one is the official distributed con book had a drum roll published the legal names of pre-registered attendees.
SPEAKER_06Oh no.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh no.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_06This is almost a con ending event.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah. We will see you. Yeah. Uh well they they already had it. Um I did have some various reports that furs had a good time despite the mishaps and inconveniences. So, like this AM, just get your act together. Uh please reach out to other cons and learn from your mistakes. It's not easy to run a fur con, but yeah, we there's a lot of help within the community. Anywho, uh, next up, uh, another sigh is that Channel 4 UK is working on a furry expose for their running series Untold, as passed on by our very own Rain Raccoon and reported by his friend James from 3D, who Untold is a sensationalist, uh hard-hitting journalism type show, which tends to put things in a bad light. Oh boy. Popular UK and your European furries have been receiving emails from the show's creators to request that they appear on the show. And as posted by Rain, although Raining Coyotes, or Raining Chaos in this case, the journalist uh Ellie Flynn will immerse herself in a world where creativity, identity, and community sit alongside sex, kink, and controversy, and will attend furry events and meet fursuit makers, adult content creators, and academics.
SPEAKER_06Oh boy. Um I have a feeling she'll focus mostly on the adult content and kinks. Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_07Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05Yes, because I I mean, doesn't pretty much anything sit alongside sex?
SPEAKER_06Yes, pretty much. We're all we're all sexual beings. I mean, we wouldn't be here if humans and animals weren't sexual beings. So yeah, what's your point there? Right.
SPEAKER_09There is that rule that says if that if anything can be made into sexual, yeah, rule 34. Yeah, rule 34.
SPEAKER_05So, but uh despite warnings from the UK furry fandom and elsewhere, it appears there's been some cooperation from the UK furry community with the show's producers. We'll just we'll just see where this one goes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. James is very worried about this because uh he's seen some other pieces she's done, and they've been overwhelmingly negative towards those communities.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, yeah. Just rake them over the coals. Yeah. But yeah, but finally the fun one. Yay! Yay, yes, recently in Portland, Oregon, two escape pet pygmy goats were seen boarding a public transit bus.
SPEAKER_03Well, they have to get the error going somehow.
SPEAKER_09Yes, yeah, it was a very cute picture.
SPEAKER_05Yes, uh, the goats, later found to be named Billy the Kid and Billy the Goat, were spotted, yeah, spotted on bus station cameras when they wandered aboard while the bus was stopped and the doors were opened. Yeah, the doors shut, and the bus operator realized the situation and chewed the goats off the bus.
SPEAKER_06Wow.
SPEAKER_04So where did they end up?
SPEAKER_06They have such personality. We had one when I was a kid, and they are like they're like dogs, but ramp it up about 10% because they want to be in everything and uh and like want to be on top of everything, and they just they're they're very fun, they're very cute little little animals. So you had a cute. I had a kid when I was a kid, yes.
SPEAKER_05Well, they were later reunited with her owner, who made improvements to their fenced enclosure to hopefully prevent future escapes. However, as reported on local news station KGW, the goats didn't have a hop card. The hop card being the thing that you use to get the trade or the bus here. And furthermore, TriMet, the local transit authority, is offering Billy Merch. You too, my dear furs, can have your very own TriMet is goated t-shirt for $35. Wow. Wow.
SPEAKER_03I love that. I love that.
SPEAKER_06That is fantastic publicity.
SPEAKER_05Yes, the shirt features a whimsical drawing of a TriMet bus and the two absconded goats. And the receipts will go towards supporting public transit. That, my dear furs, is the news for this week. Awesome.
:05 Wrangler
SPEAKER_03Before I so I have to interject because this is very important. Very important. So at the beginning of the show, so all you furs, you know, you've done Zoom before and things like this, and same thing when we do our podcast thing, we have our pictures and our names on the things and everything. And in the beginning of tonight's episode, um Barely just had his name Barley, just like we all have our names. Now, about I don't know, seven to ten minutes ago, early and added the subtitled Tabin Wrangler. Now, here's the thing. I don't know if any of you first remember that back in what was the beginning of season four, whenever we got the entire staff on the show, the very first episode um early had the subtitle Chaos Coordinator. Well, now it's funneled down into Tabin Wrangler. So I thought that was very important to point out.
SPEAKER_06Well, you are the most chaotic force on the show.
SPEAKER_07The fact that you remember that is amazing.
SPEAKER_03I don't actually rem know how I remember that, but I remember you cannot beat click train, so yes, yes.
SPEAKER_07All right,
:01 Upcoming Events
SPEAKER_07that's gonna get us to our upcoming events. Before we get to the list, we highlight upcoming events and cons that are taking place between our episodes. That same weekend, but starting going into the 29th in France is Fur Calva Dance. And I don't know whether it's a four-day dance or whether it's whether dance means something they're gonna be so tired. Yes. Right? Uh Urbach Germany on September 30th through October 4th is hosting H-Con.
SPEAKER_03I don't know about that. I'm a little worried about that name because it doesn't have like war connotations.
SPEAKER_07It kind of did to me too, yeah. So I'm just gonna be good. Good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh Alamo City Furry Invasion takes place October 1 through 4 in San Marcos, Texas. That same week.
SPEAKER_06Which is not Alamo City as a former San Antonio. I know, yeah. That is San Antonio, not San Marcos. San Marcos is close to San Antonio. It's a suburb, but it is not CS.
SPEAKER_07I'm guessing, though, that they probably have grown to the space.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, they out the outgrew their space. Yeah, and they had to go someplace. Yeah, but you want to keep the name of this comment.
SPEAKER_07San Marcos is beautiful, though.
SPEAKER_08I think that clean.
SPEAKER_07Okay. Carolina Fur Fair 2026 takes place that same weekend, October 1 through 4, in Hickory, North Carolina. Michigan Anthro Weekend, that same weekend, 1 through 4 in October, is in the Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lochester, UK is hosting Possum 2026, October 1 through 6.

:19 Movie Review
SPEAKER_00Click the link to help support the show becoming a reality.
SPEAKER_06So, Chitaro, could you uh grace us with a movie review?
SPEAKER_09I can. I can as a matter of fact. I have a movie review of the 2018 movie called Mowgli Legend of the Jungle, which is streaming on Netflix. Now Mowgli is from the Jungle Book. Yeah, so so the ironic part is I I I I'm gonna say this because it was kind of interesting, a little trivia before I go into the movie. Um, it was supposed to come out in 2016, but Disney decided that they needed to come out with the live-action version of the jungle book. And so not to be told, because the person who actually who actually directed uh Mowgli Legend of the Jungle is Andy Circus. So he didn't want to have those two clash, and so he said, you know, let's move it a couple of years and it'll be fine. So they did. So it gives them a lot more time to tighten the movie up and everything, anyways. Yeah, absolutely. And and there are some really big-named people in this movie. Um, Christian Vale, uh, he plays uh Bagheera, which is the Black Panther. Uh Kate Blanchett, she plays Ka, which is the Big Python. Uh Benedict Cumberbatch plays uh Shir Khan, uh, which is the tiger. And, as I said, the director Andy Circus also plays Baloo, which is the bear. I don't probably need to talk exorbitantly about this, because it because I assume almost every fur out there has seen the jungle book. It does sort of follow the jungle book's theme. Parents get killed, you know, Mowgli gets dropped off into the jungle, the animals take care of him, he grows up with the animals, he eventually goes to the people, um, and stuff happens, dah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And and that's kind of the same thing in the story. However, first off, number one, there is no singing in this movie. So Baloo does not sing the bare necessities. That's his show. I love that song. But because there's no music, it's a little bit more dark. You know, Andy Circus wanted this to be a little bit more true to the stories of Rudyard Kipling. Uh, that because, you know, what most people don't understand is that Rudyard Kipling wrote short stories about the jungle. And one of those short stories, well, technically three, got turned into what we all know as the jungle book. The story that is for Mowgli Legend of the Jungle is basically just the one story that kind of goes through. So, so there's no uh big gigantic orangutang uh that is coming to collect Mowgli and things of that nature and stuff like that. But but I will say that it was interesting because you know, you actually do see his parents getting killed by Cher Khan, you know, in the beginning. I mean, they don't show it specifically, but you know it happens. Yeah. Implied. Yeah. Implied. Yeah. And so so he ends up getting taken by Bagira to the wolves, and the wolves take care of him and protect him and stuff like that. Well, you know, Ka, which is the Python, has visions of saying, you're gonna save the forest, you know, and stuff, and you're gonna change the jungle, so to speak. And what ends up happening in the end is he basically does change things. And I'm not gonna say exactly how. It's very much told the same way that you would expect the jungle book to, but it's a little bit more dark. Um, there's a little bit more turns in it. A little more adult, you know, a little more adult, yeah. I would say almost a lot more adult, to be honest.
SPEAKER_06I mean, Kimpling's stories were never were never meant to be children's stories. Right, exactly, exactly. They just got turned into children's stories by Disney because of course Disney does that.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah. Well, Cher Khan, um, you know, in the books, in the books, he's actually uh a limped uh tiger, you know. Uh he basically has one paw that's been deformed and he learns to walk on it. Whereas in the jungle book, he's like a perfectly formed tiger and roaming around and doing all the stuff. You know, Baloo, for example. You know, Baloo is a bear. And when you look at this bear, yes, you can tell that this bear is not a real bear. Um, because of course, number one, it's talking, but it it also has a lot of different, interesting facial features because they decided to actually put real human eyes into the characters. So some of these creatures look really disturbing, like Begira. Yeah, for like Begira, for example, his eyes staring back at you are like human eyes staring out of a panther. So it's kind of unique how they did that. But uh, but but it gives an interesting venue of how it works. I'm gonna say that obviously this whole movie was CGI because when you read the credits at the end, oh my god, how many different artists there were. With that being said, they do a really good job of integrating things because Mowgli ends up having one scene where he's actually re-writing on the back of Aguirra's uh back. And it's really awesome how seamless that looks. I mean, I'm always impressed nowadays because, you know, I I mean, I grew up in the 70s where some of the most horrific, you know, sci-fi movies had horrible graphics and things, and some some of the other movies, you know, you just had to go, oh my god, did they really special effects were nascent when we were kids? Yeah. Exactly. And so I'm always impressed by special effects. With that being the case, um, you know, there there were so many cool special effects in this. I am gonna end up giving this movie, in terms of my my chirp scale, uh, four and a half chirps. The reason why I don't give it five is because there's a couple of strange things that end up happening. And, you know, the the there's one part where it was very brief, but there was one part where it looked like all of a sudden Baloo was talking and it looked like he had a stroke or something because his face kind of did something weird. So, you know, and so it's like, you know, there's little things like that. But you know, overall the story has a lot of of heart. Um, it has a lot of uh interesting uh characters, you know, and and you even fall in love with some of the animals and the the wolf pack, so to speak. There's this one uh They're always my favorite in the cartoon. Uh in the original jump. They're my favorites. There's this one wolf who was called a hoot. It's V-H-O-O-T, a hoot. It sounded like they were saying in the movie boot, but he was like an albino wolf, but not really an albino wolf because he had colored eyes that weren't like an albino. But he was so cute and adorable, you know, always wanting to be so happy and go, Mowgli, let's do this, and mogley, let's do that. And it was like really fun, you know. But but unfortunately, you know, I'm not gonna say what happens to him other than something does, and you end up seeing it, and it's kind of to me, it was kind of disturbing. Yeah, it is Kipling. Uh, none of his stories are are are really happy, happy stories. But you know, like I said, overall, great movie. I recommend it. Mowgli, Legend of the Jungle, playing on well, streaming on Netflix. Go watch it, all you furs, because I think it's worth worth the effort. And and the fact that that Benedict Cumberbatch has this horrifically deep voice to play Shir Khan was amazing. You know, I kind of liked his voice as Cher Khan. It was wonderful. So go out and watch this movie. You'll
:03 Story Time
SPEAKER_09be impressed.
SPEAKER_07Tabin, do you have a story for us this week?
SPEAKER_03Hi, I do. And I think it's kind of stupid, but I'll read it anyway. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Well, it hasn't stopped you before.
SPEAKER_03It has not stopped me before.
SPEAKER_09You're gonna read the whole story and not every third word, right?
SPEAKER_06What did you do? That's one for this season, Chitaro. You've got one B reference, and this one.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so three in your hour. I'm uh I I'm going to do like just the first page every third, and then I'll do the actual thing. And this is Chitaro's fault, so barely don't.
SPEAKER_06No, no, please, David, don't tell us the real story.
SPEAKER_03No, no. So the story is called See You Later, Alligator. Written by Sally Hop Good and illustrated. Well, you want to see the illustrations, but in case you want to know, it's illustrated by Emma Levy. Okay, shout out to Emma Levy. So first the really quick, really quick, Caroly's giving me this. Everyone actually, all you first should see, everyone in the studio here is giving me a really nasty look right now that I'm gonna do this. Chitaro's your fault. So just the first page, every third word. Then I will do the actual thing. So tortoise go big. See what possibly saying all animals, you alligator. Okay, so now let's do the real thing. Okay, okay, but so really it goes. Tortoise wanted to go on a big adventure to see the world, but he couldn't possibly leave without saying goodbye to all of his animal friends. And so there's an alligator there, and he says, See you later, alligator. And then he says, It's been a while, crocodile. And there's a crocodile on the space, and then there's a kangaroo, and he says, Turn all you do, kangaroo. And then there's a raccoon on and he says, I'll see you soon, Mr. Raccoon. See, I Told you this is a stupid story. Then he says, I'll go before noon, Mrs. Baboon, because it's a long way there, baby bear. There's a baby bear on the you'll guys should have done this every third, actually. So now there's a deer on the You'll have to stay here, little deer. It's over that hill, Buffalo Bill. Across the wild the White Sea Bumblebee. Through marshy bugs, rocky dog. And deserts. Dry butterfly. Oh my lord, this is so dumb. Look after the houses and the down.
SPEAKER_05That would be interesting.
SPEAKER_03And just for fun, this next page, only every third word. Don't unicorn. No, it actually says don't look for for known unicorn. I don't know this. This key's under the mat! Kitty cat. Why do we care about the key? I've put money in the meter, anti-meter. I'll be back. What? I'll be back, frog named Jack? Okay. Sooner than you think. Stink slinky mink. Um, we're I think we're almost done. I can't stop another day, Squawking Jay. There's so much more to see and do, Mr. Nuke. So don't wait up, Buttercup. Looks like it's time to go, Slowjo. Um okay. It was the same every single day. By the time Tortoise had said all of his goodbyes, which apparently took out eight. The park gates were locked, and his big adventure to see the world would start all over again the very next morning. And then there's alligator. Remember the alligator from the beginning and the crocodile from the beginning? Alligator says, Is he still here? And crocodile says, Yeah. The end. Okay, that was out there listening to the alligators and crocodiles right into the show in the BFFT chat or telegram or um or email or whatever, all the things that Burley is gonna say very soon, so make sure you keep listening till the end of the show
:12 Shameless Plugs
SPEAKER_03so you can see all the ways you can let us know. What did you think of that story?
SPEAKER_07Well, that takes us up to our shameless plugs, and I'm going to plug uh one of our other podcasts on our network, Royal Highness, that podcast where the hosts are enhanced with cannabis, and watch a show and then talk about it while they're still enhanced. They just started watching a Netflix series called Beowulf Return to the Shield Lands.
SPEAKER_03Oh nice.
SPEAKER_07Subsiding. Now, this show is not very well done. Which makes it funnier, I'm guessing. Oh, absolutely. And the other thing too is it's a British television show. It was made for ITV. Oh no. And uh, so that's uh I I can guess how bad it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's got a lot of good actors in it, and it's got a lot of actors that went on to be in Game of Thrones and in several other series. So uh it's pretty good. It's a good start for some of the things.
SPEAKER_09So is this is this story uh Beowulf pre-Game of Thrones?
SPEAKER_07Oh yes, it's like 2016, I think is when it came out. Oh, okay. So uh yeah, it's pre-Game Thrones.
SPEAKER_03So it definitely was a good start for certain actors to like start out at.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you know, it's it's so bad. I mean, listen to the next episode of Royal Hunt. I'm gonna have to now. But um you don't even get characters' names until like three-quarters of the way through the first episode. And you're like, who is this person? Why is they why are they important? What is what is their what? I mean, you get a few.
SPEAKER_06So this is a series you can watch with your mom, and and uh you won't be uh so annoyed by the fact that she's asking who is that, because you're like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_07I don't know either. Yeah. And here's oh, they're having a great time tearing it apart. It's just it's it's I laughed so hard during the recording.
SPEAKER_03I can only imagine we will have to listen to it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Um and uh there's also some things down for BFFT that should be plugged, our merch at BFFT-recom and our telegram chat where you can chat with all of our staff. That's one of the things that you can get away, uh get a hold of us. So let us know what you thought of the episode. Rain, what have you got to plug?
SPEAKER_06Well, as always, 3D Who, the monthly Doctor Who podcast, where James Barely and I talk.
SPEAKER_03That's what it's where you can hear Barely and Rain fail miserably. Okay, sorry, I had to throw that in.
SPEAKER_06Yes, where you can hear us fail miserably at Tribul Pursuit Doctor Who edition. Uh, but yes, the monthly Doctor Who podcast where James Barley and I talk about all things Doctor Who. This month we're talking about the second Doctor, and next month we're going on to the third. Uh new episode.
SPEAKER_03So that's like way back in the beginning.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Uh and that's because there's no Doctor Who news right now, because or there's no new Doctor Who because the show's out for tender, and it's essentially on pause, probably for the next two years, we're guessing.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think it's a it's great to review the because those like the first old Doctors were like just so great. Well, not all of them, but like there were some really good um original ones. So that's really great to hear about them.
SPEAKER_06The thing is also a lot of the the first three doctors, at least, there are a lot of episodes that are missing uh because they were never they were never meant for reruns. So there's there's a lot of missing tapes and a lot of missing you know film footage. Um and luckily James being the Doctor Who historian that he is can fill in a lot of those gaps for our listeners. So if you're really interested in early Doctor Who, these three episodes are gonna be really key for you to go listen to.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that sounds also yeah, definitely all you first have checked this out. Sounds like there's good some good missing and known and good history going on there.
SPEAKER_06Yes. So those uh those appear, uh, like I said, they they uh premiere at the end of every month at midnight uh Pacific time. There's my YouTube channel, Raccoon, where I tell stories of true crimes, abandoned places, strange history, and odd tales. Uh my latest video, this about this man, which is a a flyer meme that happened way, way back in the early 2000s, has gotten more views than any of my other videos so far. Uh as of just when we started recording, it was at 165, and that's since Friday. Everybody is really entranced in this creepy pasta stuff. So uh from now until Halloween, all the videos are going to be about spoopy urban legends. Uh nice. Yes, so you can find it at yeah, youtube.com forward slash at rain raccoon. Please give it a watch and subscribe because it would really help me grow the channel and bring you all some more spooky and strange content. Also, I have my social media and project links available on my LinkTree, L-I-N-K-T-R. Very cool, very cool. Very cool indeed. Uh, Chitaro, how about you?
SPEAKER_09What do you got to plug? Forlandia 2027. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03The things that you have been hinting at throughout the entire show. All you furries, you get to hear it now. What was Chitaro talking about?
SPEAKER_09It's ready, furry one. I can announce that it's going to be held on the 7th to the 9th of May. Woo! Um Yeah, I know that's earlier than we normally do. Um, also, it's going to be held at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. Okay. I know all of you furs are going to ask the question, so I'm just going to give you a brief, and I mean very brief, synopsis here. That the Hyatt did something horrible to us. And they basically, let's just say, gave us a horrible contract that we denied, and then they decided to erase our name from our dates, and the dates got given to other people until 2030. And so we're not gonna be at the Hyatt ever until 2031.
SPEAKER_03And just so you always know, um, the Hyatt was where Furlandia was at this last year in 2026, where it moved to from the ch from the Sheraton.
SPEAKER_09On our website, you'll be able to see that volunteer applications are available on the website and pre-registration has started. In addition, this year, we're also going to be doing an anthology book. Um, it will be sold at Furlandia 2027, and it will be a collection of writings done by our attendees. So if you are interested in writing a story that is based on our theme, ready for E1, please check out our website for any particulars, and that is Forlandia.org.
SPEAKER_07Alright.
SPEAKER_09Ziggy, how about you?
SPEAKER_08Ah, guess what? If you see a green hay record, don't publish.
SPEAKER_03Especially since apparently you're having a little bit more trouble right now.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Those tournaments are like they're really rough.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and to collect the sprites is very difficult now. It's not as easy as before. I have no idea how to steal the map. It's horrible now.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I want to give you a hug. I feel so bad for you.
SPEAKER_07TikTok, what have you got to plug?
SPEAKER_05Uh, so yeah, just coming up for me. Uh, hope to see furs at Get Out the Float in February. Alright. Where you'll be volunteering, but unfortunately I won't.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_07Tavin.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_07Taven, what have you got to plug?
SPEAKER_03Well. So glad you asked because I have nothing. Actually, I have more than nothing. I have more things than you want to hear about. But I'll tell you about them. So while you first said, uh, have heard this show before. Probably know what I'm gonna say, but I'm gonna say it again. Because why not? And there is more stuff coming out on my social media and stuff on my YouTube and everything. So I have a Linktree. That's L-I-N- Sorry. Yeah, hi! I can spell fortune. F-U T-U-R-E. No, I can't spell it. So really, I'm gonna not try and spell it because I can't. How about Linktree? That's L-I-N-K-T-R dot W forward slash T A E B Y N. That's a Linktree, of course, it has all links to all my things, but individually you can go to my Instagram. I had been using it a lot when I was at A or um Woo, and I'm kinda not using it as much now. I need to get back into it. Anyway, I do have an Instagram. Oh, I do, I do! Oh, and I do. Yeah, you're saying I do. So um You do need to get back into it, yes. I do really need to get so uh you first check out my Instagram. There's lots of fun, cool stuff there. I have merch I have a fourth wall, that's taben dash shop chop chop. So chop me a fortune. No, how about taben-shop.fourthwall.com. I have t-shirts, mugs, stickers. I I want to put more stuff on there. Lots of fun, good, fun stuff. And as I mentioned before, I have a YouTube, um, lots of good stuff there. There are so many more videos. How many videos? I have so many more videos than I thought I actually had. Like, I have so many videos. Just check it all out. Um, so on my YouTube, in case you're wondering, just go to I think it's Tabin Pup is my YouTube channel. There's of course the crispy chicken saga, lots of good stuff there, but I also got lots of good math videos on very topic, various topics in calculus and linear algebra, stuff like that. I've had furs come up to me and actually actually literally tell me they passed their calculus exams because of my videos. I have even literally had an actual well-known fur come up to me and tell me they they think they got their engineering degree because of my Laplace Transforms video. So make sure to check that out. Um there's also um fun little um just mathy things too. The the uh four-color map problem, Moby Strips, time bottles, let's little fun mathy things like that. There's a history of our podcast on there, and there's cooking with tape, and I can you know teach you how to learn I can teach you to learn to um how to make an egg ice and toast and cook an egg and things like that. I have no idea if you actually understood that sentence I said, so if you do, then you really need to watch the video, I guess. Product reviews, drumming, lots of stuff. And I have like, we have like so much more ready to come out. So there's um more to see. So make sure you subscribe and like and make sure you find out when my new contact comes out. My next con is Anthro Northwest in January. Do my story kind of Tavin and Tavid Sings Weird out. Those are my plu shameless plugs for this week.
